Netflix is planning a huge month of new shows and movies in May, with tons of fresh content for viewers to enjoy – making it the biggest month yet this year.
Anime fans have a lot to look forward to on Netflix next month, with at least seven major releases planned. Four popular anime series will be added on May 1st, offering a diverse range of stories and styles.
Jujutsu Kaisen, One Piece & More Arrive on Netflix Next Month
On May 1st, Netflix will add the complete third season of the beloved anime mystery series Detective Conan, along with the first season of the more mature Assassination Classroom. Fans can also look forward to the addition of Jujutsu Kaisen Season 2 and Shangri-La Frontier on the same day, though these aren’t necessarily the most exciting releases of the group.
That title might actually go to the episodes covering the Whole Cake Island arc of One Piece (specifically episodes 823 to 835). These episodes follow the crew as they try to rescue Sanji from his forced wedding and deal with the aftermath of the Big Mom Pirates’ attack on their ship, the Thousand Sunny.
The second season of the popular Netflix anime Devil May Cry arrives on May 12th. A new teaser trailer shows Dante continuing his fight against his evil twin brother, Vergil. Just like the first season, the new season will have eight episodes and is based on the well-known video game.
On May 17th, the anime series Akane-Banashi will start streaming on Netflix. It originally aired in April and is based on the popular manga by Yuki Suenaga and Takamasa Moue. The story follows Akane, a young woman secretly learning the traditional Japanese art of rakugo. She aims to become a master performer, known as shin’uchi, and restore her family’s honor after her father’s career ended in disgrace.
The Akane-Banashi anime, created by studio Zexcs, has generally been well-received by both critics and viewers. Currently, it has a rating of 7.9 out of 10 on the Internet Movie Database (IMDb), based on almost 150 reviews.
Along with these new shows and movies, we’re still releasing seasonal favorites like , which is currently available weekly. Season 2 follows Caiman as he continues his search for the wizard who turned him into a human with a reptile’s head.
