The Game of Thrones Stage Play Takes Fans Back to Westeros

The Royal Shakespeare Company is excited to announce the creative team and performance dates for Game of Thrones: The Mad King. According to co-artistic directors Daniel Evans and Tamara Harvey, the production will feature a talented group of theatre professionals reimagining George R. R. Martin’s world as a stage play.

The Royal Shakespeare Theatre has been redesigned to put audiences right in the middle of the performance. This new setup will fully immerse viewers in the story and create a spectacular, unforgettable experience. It’s a thrilling project, and we’re excited to share it with everyone.

This large-scale play is a prequel to the popular series, and its marketing focuses on the idea that history remembers the best storytellers, not necessarily those who are right. The story takes place in Westeros years before the novels begin, and will feature younger versions of familiar characters like Ned Stark, Robert Baratheon, and Jaime Lannister. Lyanna Stark will also appear in the play.

The world of Game of Thrones continues to grow beyond the original TV series. HBO is currently working on several new projects, and reports indicate that a new movie set in the Game of Thrones universe is also being developed.

Game of Thrones is streaming on HBO Max.
