Frozen 3 Finally Gets Massive Production Update From Kristen Bell

It’s been seven years since the first Frozen movie came out, and fans are eager for news about the next installment. Despite Disney presenting updates at CinemaCon, Frozen 3 wasn’t part of the announcements.

Kristen Bell recently surprised fans by announcing she’s recording again! On April 17th, she posted a photo from the recording booth with the caption “Back in the booth,” along with a snowflake emoji and a tag for the official Frozen account. She also shared pictures, including a selfie with the message “Icy secrets” and another showing a board covered with images of Elsa, Anna, and Olaf.

Frozen 3 Is Finally Happening

Josh Gad, the voice of Olaf, shared at the Toronto International Film Festival in September 2025 that they hadn’t begun recording the songs for the upcoming movie. While no music had been released yet, Gad offered a positive outlook, saying he’d had a sneak peek at the story and believes the film will be well worth the wait.

He hinted at a return to recording in early February, sharing a photo with the team behind Frozen and playfully writing, “Third time’s the charm. Let’s build another snowman!”

Disney revealed a summary of the upcoming film during its Consumer Products Division Launch Conference in Shanghai, China.

The report highlights a major event in Arendelle: Queen Anna’s wedding. The ceremony promises to be spectacular, but also hints at unforeseen difficulties. Plus, the royal family is expecting a surprising addition!

After the ending of Frozen II, many fans assumed Anna and Kristoff were expecting a baby, now that Anna is Queen of Arendelle. Disney hasn’t confirmed this, and the new character could be anyone they choose.

Frozen Has a Bright Future

Since it came out in 2013, Frozen has become one of Disney’s biggest franchises. Queen Elsa quickly became a fan favorite, and Anna was celebrated as a Disney Princess people could really connect with. The movie was a huge hit, breaking box office records that stood for years.

Bob Iger, the former CEO of Disney, announced that a third Frozen movie was being developed on February 8, 2023. Originally planned for release on November 25, 2026, the movie’s release date was later moved to November 24, 2027.

Although fans have waited a while – the first Frozen came out in 2013 and the second in 2019 – Disney plans to release more movies soon. Bob Iger announced that the third Frozen film is scheduled for 2027, and they’ll film two sequels consecutively. Frozen 4 is currently projected to arrive in either 2028 or 2029.

Frozen 3 hits theaters on Nov. 24, 2027.
