‘Focker-In-Law’ Teaser: First Look at Ariana Grande in Ben Stiller Sequel

Okay, so Universal and Paramount just gave us our first little peek at the fourth Meet the Parents movie – they’re calling it Focker-in-Law. It’s been a long time since the original back in 2000! If you remember, Ben Stiller plays Greg Focker, a guy trying to win over his girlfriend’s dad, Jack Byrnes – played brilliantly by Robert De Niro. Jack is a retired CIA agent and a total hard case, and he puts Greg through the wringer. De Niro is just so good at playing that intimidating, suspicious father-in-law!

After three films and 25 years, it seems history is repeating itself! The latest sneak peek at Focker-in-Law shows Jack bringing out the lie detector again – this time to question a new character, Olivia Jones, played by Ariana Grande. You can watch the short trailer below.

Ben Stiller has suggested Ariana Grande will play a very unusual character, but details about Olivia Jones remain a mystery. However, it’s likely Olivia is now dating Henry, Greg’s son, who was a child in the previous movie, Little Fockers. Colin Baiocchi played Henry back in 2010, but Skyler Gisondo (known from The Righteous Gemstones) will take on the role in the new film. Henry’s twin sister, Samantha, previously played by Daisy Tahan in Little Fockers, will now be played by Beanie Feldstein (Booksmart).

Ariana Grande is set to impress in her new movie, according to director Ben Stiller, who praised her ability to seamlessly fit into the role. He highlighted her professionalism, comedic timing, and talent, noting her established skills as a singer and her recent performance in Wicked. This film marks Grande’s first on-screen appearance since playing Glinda in the upcoming Wicked: For Good. Following this, she will collaborate once again with Wicked director Jon Chu on an animated film based on Dr. Seuss’s Oh, the Places You’ll Go.

Many of the actors from the original Meet the Fockers films are reprising their roles in Focker-in-Law. This includes Teri Polo as Greg’s wife Pam, Blythe Danner as his mother-in-law Dina, and Owen Wilson as Pam’s former fiancé Kevin. It’s currently unknown if Dustin Hoffman and Barbra Streisand, who played Greg’s unconventional parents, will return. Ben Stiller mentioned he was attempting to get Barbra Streisand on board as of last September, but it’s uncertain if he was successful.

We should get a definite answer tomorrow when the full trailer for Focker-in-Law is released. John Hamburg, who wrote the previous three movies in the series, wrote this one too, and is also directing it.
