Clayface is getting a new series ahead of the forthcoming DCU movie.
This fall, a new movie about the Batman villain Clayface will hit theaters nationwide. The film, from DC Studios and Warner Bros. Pictures, is directed by James Watkins and co-written by Mike Flanagan. Tom Rhys Harries will play Clayface, but it’s currently unknown if Batman will appear in the movie.
What do we know about the new Clayface series?
According to The Beat, DC Comics is releasing a new six-issue Clayface series before the upcoming movie. The series, called Clayface: Celebrity Dirt, is written by Jude Ellison S. Doyle, illustrated by Fran Galán, colored by Patricio Delpeche, and lettered by Tom Napolitano. Fran Galán created the main cover art, with variant covers by Mike Del Mundo and Dave Johnson.

However, he returns to a changed world: a strange new illness is turning people into living clay figures resembling his own fears, and someone has become a more famous actor by impersonating him. As this new celebrity gains prominence, Basil begins to notice a troubling connection and must investigate his past to uncover the truth behind both mysteries. His investigation delves into the history of the Clayface family, leading him to a confrontation with one of its most unpredictable members.
Doyle described Basil Karlo as a deeply human and complex character within the Batman mythos. While Karlo has the ability to transform into anyone, he’s ultimately unable to overcome his own inner struggles. He projects an image of perfection, but privately, he’s falling apart.
Okay, so I just found out the first issue of the “Clayface: Celebrity Dirt” comic drops on July 8th, 2026, which is super exciting! And even better, the actual movie adaptation is scheduled to hit theaters on October 23rd, 2026. I’ve already marked my calendar!
