There’s good news for fans of the classic cartoon Darkwing Duck: the long-awaited reboot is moving forward. Jim Cummings, who originally voiced the character, recently shared positive updates, indicating that production is now happening.
Jim Cummings shares production update on Darkwing Duck revival
Jim Cummings recently shared news about the upcoming Darkwing Duck revival, which Seth Rogen is helping to produce for Disney+. He discussed how the reboot is progressing in a ScreenRant interview.
Cummings said bringing the character back was “long overdue.” He shared that the project is still in development, with Seth Rogen, a longtime friend, playing a key role. Cummings noted they’ve only filmed a single episode so far, but assured fans to “stay tuned” for more updates, adding that everyone involved is still active and working on it.
Cummings suggested that they shouldn’t change things unnecessarily, stating, “If it’s not broke, don’t fix it.” He also noted that the character Gosalyn has matured, which he found noteworthy. However, he didn’t share any further information about when the project would be completed or what the story would involve.
In an August 2025 interview with TikTok creator TheHijabiBounder, Cummings discussed plans to bring the character back. He shared that the project was underway and expressed how much the return meant to him. According to ComicBook, he said the revival was a special project, particularly after 30 years, and hinted at some changes: Gosalyn has grown up, and the character himself is older.
Darkwing Duck, originally created by Tad Stones, first aired from 1991 to 1992. The show follows Drake Mallard, a seemingly normal duck living in the suburbs, who leads a double life as a crime-fighting superhero.
