I’m so excited! Tommy Lee Jones is coming to TV after almost 40 years! He’s joining that really great crime series with Ethan Hawke – you might remember it got a lot of praise when it first came out. They just renewed it for another season, and now they’ve announced Tommy Lee Jones will be a part of it. It’s known for having amazing guest stars, so this is a big deal!
FX has revealed that acclaimed actor Tommy Lee Jones (known for No Country for Old Men) will be joining Season 2 of The Lowdown. Production is scheduled to start this spring in Tulsa, Oklahoma. While details about his character are still unknown, Jones will appear alongside Betty Gilpin (American Primeval) as a new addition to the cast. The show follows a Tulsa citizen journalist as he uncovers local corruption and is created by Sterlin Harjo (Reservation Dogs), who also serves as an executive producer with Garrett Basch, Ethan Hawke, Ryan Hawke, Duffy Boudreau, and Scott Teems.
The first season of The Lowdown starred Hawke and Keith David, and included appearances by many well-known guest actors like Kyle MacLachlan, Jeanne Tripplehorn, Tim Blake Nelson, Ryan Kiera Armstrong, Michael “Killer Mike” Render, Kaniehtiio Horn, Tracy Letts, Peter Dinklage, and the late Graham Greene. Here’s a description of what the show is about:
FX’s series, The Lowdown, centers on Lee Raybon (Hawke), a determined journalist in Tulsa who investigates local corruption. He calls himself a “truthstorian” and relentlessly pursues the truth, often landing himself in difficult situations. Though not a naive optimist, Lee is deeply committed to revealing the city’s secrets and exposing wrongdoing, no matter the personal cost.
