X-Men: First Class is coming for streaming on HBO Max soon.

Comic Book Resources reports that the X-Men prequel movie will be available to stream on December 1, 2025.

Released in theaters on June 3, 2011, the movie quickly became popular with audiences. It cost approximately $160 million to make, according to Box Office Mojo, and earned $55 million in its opening weekend from 3,641 theaters. Within the United States, the movie brought in about $146 million, while international audiences contributed over $206 million, bringing the total worldwide box office to $352 million.

Critics and audiences both generally liked X-Men: First Class. It earned an 86% rating on Rotten Tomatoes from critics and an 87% rating from viewers. Set in the 1960s, the film tells the story of Charles Xavier and Erik Lensherr, two people with superpowers, as they search for others like themselves, but their differing beliefs eventually lead them down separate paths.

Recently, Edi Gathegi, known for playing Darwin in the film, discussed feeling that his character was poorly represented and that the role didn’t reach its full potential.

In an interview with Entertainment Weekly, the actor who played Superman explained that he felt the character had a lot of untapped potential. He was hopeful to reprise the role after the first movie, believing the character shouldn’t have been left out of subsequent films. He felt each film that didn’t include him proved it was a mistake and a lost chance to develop the character further.
