The 5 Big Marvel Video Games Releasing Before Spider-Man 3

While we’re still waiting for Marvel’s Spider-Man 3, Marvel Games has several other superhero games coming out first. Insomniac’s Spider-Man games have been incredibly popular and have set a new standard for Marvel games on PlayStation 4 and 5. Other studios are also developing Marvel titles, and most of those are scheduled to launch before Spider-Man 3.

While a third Spider-Man game hasn’t been officially confirmed, actors involved have suggested that Insomniac Games is working on it. Even if it’s still several years away – potentially as late as 2028, according to recent leaks – that gives other game developers time to explore making games based on Marvel characters.

Marvel Cosmic Invasion

Release date: December 1, 2025

Marvel Cosmic Invasion, a new side-scrolling beat ’em up from Tribute Games, brings the classic Marvel universe back to life with retro pixel art. Players choose from heroes like Iron Man, Captain America, Rocket Raccoon, Storm, and Spider-Man to battle waves of alien invaders trying to take over Earth.

Marvel Tokon: Fighting Souls

Release date: 2026

Arc System Works, the team behind popular fighting games like Guilty Gear and BlazBlue, is creating a new fighting game set in the Marvel Universe. The game, called Marvel Tokon: Fighting Souls, will feature a variety of well-known Marvel characters – including Doctor Doom, Ghost Rider, Spider-Man, and Star-Lord – battling it out in iconic locations like the X-Mansion and New York City. It’s already shaping up to be one of the most exciting upcoming superhero games.

Marvel’s Wolverine

Release date: Late 2026

Before starting work on Spider-Man 3, Insomniac Games is releasing its highly anticipated Wolverine game, expanding the range of heroes they create games for. Like the Spider-Man games, Wolverine will focus on the character’s intense and aggressive fighting style and will feature many other characters from the X-Men universe for Wolverine to meet and interact with.

Since both Marvel’s Spider-Man and Wolverine take place in the same shared universe, the next game from Insomniac could include clues hinting at a potential crossover between the two.

Marvel 1943: Rise of Hydra

Release date: 2026

Skydance New Media’s new game, Marvel 1943: Rise of Hydra, is a large-scale story created by the team behind Uncharted. Set in World War II Paris, the game features Captain America and Black Panther as players work to thwart the growing threat of the terrorist group, Hydra. Players can choose from four different characters to complete the mission.

Originally planned for early 2026, the release of Marvel 1943: Rise of Hydra has been delayed to a date sometime after early 2026.

Marvel’s Blade

Release date: TBA

Following the releases of Deathloop and Redfall, Arkane is now venturing into the Marvel universe with a video game adaptation of the vampire hunter Blade. This game is expected to launch well before the Marvel Studios Blade movie, which has faced production challenges. Arkane announced its Blade game in December 2023 and has been working on it actively ever since.

This new game will be a departure for Arkane, switching from the first-person view of their previous titles to a third-person action-adventure. Players will follow Blade as he ventures into a quarantined Paris to eliminate a group of vampires who are causing chaos in the city.

EA’s Iron Man

Release date: TBA

Motive Studio, known for games like Star Wars Squadrons and the remake of Dead Space, is creating a video game based on Iron Man. While details are still limited even after three years since it was first announced, the game is anticipated to be a single-player, third-person action adventure.

EA announced an Iron Man game along with other Marvel projects, but a planned Black Panther game was eventually scrapped. It’s currently unknown how far along development is on the Iron Man game being created by Motive, or when we can expect it to come out.

BONUS: Marvel Rivals

Marvel Rivals launched in 2024 by NetEase, and it’s remained popular thanks to ongoing seasonal updates. Each update brings fresh characters and keeps players engaged.

After adding a Marvel Zombies mode in October and launching Season 5 with Gambit and Rogue in November, Marvel Rivals is gearing up for Season 6 in 2026. Rumors suggest Elsa Bloodstone and Deadpool will be included. With so many Marvel characters available, Marvel Rivals has plenty of content planned for the future.
