‘Knives Out’ Franchise Future Gets Disappointing Update that Really Cuts to the Bone

As a big fan of *Knives Out*, I was excited to hear we’re getting a third mystery with Daniel Craig! It’s hitting theaters for a short time on November 26, 2025, then moving to Netflix on December 12, 2025. But now, it sounds like the future of the series isn’t so certain. It’s not just about whether Netflix wants more movies either – there seem to be other problems too.

So, after directing Daniel Craig as Benoit Blanc in *Knives Out* back in 2019, I was hooked, and then we got *Glass Onion* in 2022 and *Wake Up Dead Man* this year. Honestly, all three movies have been massive hits – and *Wake Up Dead Man* is already shaping up to be another fantastic, twisty mystery, so everyone figured Netflix would be begging for another one. But apparently, that hasn’t happened yet. Rian Johnson actually told The Hollywood Reporter at the BFI London Film Festival that things aren’t looking great for a fourth movie right now, which is a real bummer.

I’m completely out of ideas. If you have any suggestions, I’m all ears. I believe it’s best to completely reset and begin fresh with the next project.

Despite the challenges, there’s good news: Rian Johnson is planning another Benoit Blanc mystery. He hinted that as long as he and Daniel Craig enjoy working together, audiences can expect to see more of the detective’s adventures.

We’ll keep making these projects as long as Daniel and I enjoy them, audiences are receptive, and we can continue to innovate and create something original. But we both agree that if it ever feels like we’re just going through the motions, it’s time to stop.
