2026 is shaping up to be another exciting year for Jason Statham fans, as his latest action film has officially been scheduled for release. This time, Statham will be fighting not only dangerous opponents and facing the consequences of his past, but also battling the forces of nature in the movie Shelter. The film is directed by Ric Roman Waugh, who also directed Angel Has Fallen. Moviegoers can start the year with some classic Statham action, as Shelter will hit theaters on January 30, 2026.
The movie delivers the familiar action you’d expect from Jason Statham, centering around Mason, a solitary man who saves a girl from a dangerous storm. However, rescuing her isn’t straightforward; it sets off a series of events that put Mason in harm’s way and forces him to confront decisions from his past. You can anticipate all the classic Statham action tropes, but with the added drama of fierce winds and heavy rain.
The film is directed by Waugh, based on a screenplay by Ward Parry. Jason Statham is joined by a talented cast including Bill Nighy, Naomi Ackie, Daniel Mays, and newcomer Bodhi Rae Breathnach. Black Bear will release the movie in theaters across the U.S., and Shelter has the potential to be a successful launch to the new year, building on the success of The Beekeeper from 2024.
2026 Could Be Another Great Year for Jason Statham

Universal Pictures
Jason Statham has been consistently busy lately. After the success of The Beekeeper, he starred in A Working Man this year. Both films have become very popular on streaming platforms, and Statham is scheduled to appear in at least two more theatrical releases in 2026.
With its January debut, Shelter is performing better than Mutiny, which Lionsgate released in the summer. Mutiny stars Jason Statham and is directed by Jean-Francois Richet, who also directed the action film Plane – originally slated for a January release before being moved. In Mutiny, Statham plays Cole Reed, a former special forces soldier and police officer wrongly accused of murder by a wealthy friend, and he must uncover an international plot to prove his innocence.
There’s a chance more Jason Statham films could join the 2026 lineup. The popular action star is currently shooting The Beekeeper 2, reprising his role as assassin Adam Clay, and it might be released later in 2026 as well. If that happens, it would only be the second time in ten years fans get to see three Statham movies in a single year – something that used to be common in the early 2000s.
If you can’t wait until January for new movies, A Working Man is currently the most popular film on Prime Video in the U.S. – and Jason Statham’s character, Levon Cade, would be happy to keep you company for a little while.
