Michael Fassbender is in talks to join an X-rated movie.
Michael Fassbender is known for his diverse roles, having played characters like the Spartan warrior Stelios in 300, Magneto in several X-Men films, Carl Jung in A Dangerous Method, the android David in Prometheus and Alien: Covenant, and Steve Jobs in the biopic Steve Jobs. He recently appeared in the spy thriller series The Agency on Paramount+ and Steven Soderbergh’s Black Bag.
According to Variety, Michael Fassbender is in early talks to star in the upcoming film by director Brady Corbet, currently known as The Origin of the World. This would be Corbet’s first project since The Brutalist, which was a critical success, earning 10 Academy Award nominations and 3 wins, including nominations for Corbet as Best Director and for Best Original Screenplay.
Details about Corbet’s upcoming film are still mostly secret, but he previously told The Hollywood Reporter it will be an explicit, unconventional movie. He said the story primarily unfolds in the 1970s, though it jumps across time from the 1800s to the present day. He also confirmed that, contrary to some speculation, the film isn’t based on The Texas Chain Saw Massacre and won’t be a typical slasher movie.
Following his work on The Brutalist, Corbet served as an executive producer and co-writer (with Mona Fastvold, who also directed) on The Testament of Ann Lee. Both films were produced by Kaplan Morrison (David Kaplan and Andrew Morrison), and they are also involved in Corbet’s upcoming project.
This would be Corbet’s fourth feature film, following his previous work on The Childhood of a Leader, Vox Lux, and The Brutalist. Michael Fassbender would be the latest major star to collaborate with the director, who has previously worked with actors like Robert Pattinson, Natalie Portman, Jude Law, and Adrien Brody. Brody won an Academy Award for his role in The Brutalist, and Felicity Jones and Guy Pearce both received Oscar nominations for their performances in the film.
