DC Is Bringing Back Absolute Batman’s Ark-M After Overwhelming Popularity

This issue transports readers to 1940s Gotham City, uncovering the disturbing beginnings of the experimental program that affected Bruce Wayne in the tenth issue of the series – an event that led to a shocking outcome. The story also reveals a frightening secret about one of the most dangerous villains in the DC Universe and hints at new enemies for Batman.

So, the game was supposed to launch in December 2025, but it got pushed back. Then, surprisingly, just two months later, they did a second print run on March 18th! After that, everyone started asking for more copies – it turned out the game was a huge hit and a lot of people wanted to get their hands on it.

Scott Snyder, the author of Absolute Batman, announced on social media that May 11th is the last day to preorder the newest edition of the popular Arkham #1 special. This edition features alternate covers by artists Joshua Hixson and Javier Rodríguez. Snyder co-wrote Arkham #1 with Frank Tieri.

Artist Hixson, known for his work on Batman titles like Batman Secret Files and The Joker Presents: A Puzzlebox Vol. 11, stepped in to draw Ark-M #1 when regular artist Nick Dragotta was unavailable. Rodríguez had previously collaborated with writer Deniz Camp on other projects within the Absolute Universe.

Absolute Batman Reprints Are Nothing New For DC Comics

It’s rare for a single comic issue to be reprinted three times in less than six months, even if it’s connected to a well-known series. However, this is actually happening frequently with issues from this particular comic, and the new printing of Absolute Batman: Ark-M #1 is just the most recent example.

In early 2026, DC Comics published a new edition of a title that first came out in October 2024. This new release featured an updated cover design—a recolored logo and a redesign of the original artwork by Nick Dragotta and colorist Frank Martin—along with special foil-covered versions created by artist InHyuk Lee.

It’s hard to believe a single comic book has gone to print ten times in just fifteen months. But when you consider Absolute Batman‘s popularity – how it’s introduced many people to comics or rekindled their love for them – it actually makes a lot of sense.

The comic Absolute Batman #1 presented a fresh take on Bruce Wayne, reimagining him as a blue-collar construction worker. Driven by the childhood trauma of witnessing his father’s murder, he used his strength and intelligence to become a crime fighter. The story continued to surprise readers by portraying classic villains like Killer Croc as childhood friends and allies of Wayne, working alongside the experienced spy Alfred Pennyworth in his fight against crime.

The Batman series recently added a new team called the Absolute Robins. These young heroes from Gotham City are dedicated to defending it from what everyone believes is its biggest danger: Absolute Batman. You can find out what happens when issue #20 is released on May 13th.
