Eddie Redmayne Is The Jackal in Peacock’s Spy Thriller Series
Filming for the new season of The Day of the Jackal is currently happening in Budapest. The series is a thrilling spy drama inspired by Frederick Forsyth’s novel and the 1973 film adaptation. It centers on the Jackal (Eddie Redmayne), a mysterious and incredibly skilled assassin who takes on assignments for a hefty price.
The show’s first season, with 10 episodes, premiered on Peacock between November and December 2024. Critics generally liked it, and Rotten Tomatoes gave it a “certified fresh” rating with an 85% approval score. Viewers also enjoyed it, giving it a 77% rating.
Similar to the original 1973 movie, The Day of the Jackal series received two Golden Globe nominations. It was up for Best Drama Series, and Eddie Redmayne was nominated for Best Actor. The show also received nominations from the Critics Choice Awards, the Screen Actors Guild Awards, and the Primetime Emmys.
