The growing influence of Wilson Fisk, also known as the Kingpin, has been central to the thrilling story of . However, as the second season ends, it looks like the Kingpin’s carefully built empire is starting to fall apart.
Vincent D’Onofrio, who plays Wilson Fisk (Kingpin) in Daredevil: Born Again, discussed what impacts his character more – the loss of his wife or the loss of New York City’s faith in him – in a recent interview with Sean O’Connell.
It feels like everything fell apart for him all at once. Losing his wife and his position as mayor, combined with the public exposure of his actions, was incredibly damaging. This marks the end of his time in power, and these events are central to the second season. The third season then explores the fallout and consequences of everything that happened.
This describes the sixth episode of Daredevil: Born Again Season 2, called “Requiem.” It follows the death of Vanessa (played by Ayelet Zurer), Wilson Fisk’s wife. She was accidentally killed by a piece of glass meant for Fisk himself, sent by Benjamin “Bullseye” Poindexter (Wilson Bethel) in an earlier episode.
Even as Wilson Fisk mourns a personal loss, protests against his strict leadership continue to grow. Karen Paige and her supporters broadcast a video of people sharing their experiences against the mayor on the front of City Hall. This sparks a fierce fight between Daredevil and Fisk, which quickly escalates into a full-blown riot among the protesters. The AVTF responds with force, ultimately leading to Karen’s arrest.
Like D’Onofrio said, the former convict is completely overwhelmed. His wife’s death, combined with losing support from the public and Governor McCaffrey (Lili Taylor), has been too much to handle. He’s actually more vulnerable now than he was even when he was in prison during the second season.
The actor suggests that these events will likely cause Fisk to lose his political power, and we’ll really see the fallout from his corruption in Season 3 of Daredevil: Born Again.
What Else To Expect In Daredevil: Born Again Season 3
The conflict between Matt Murdock and Wilson Fisk will definitely carry on in Season 3 of Daredevil: Born Again, which is coming to Disney+ in March 2027. But it looks like Daredevil will have to deal with more than just Kingpin this season – new enemies are on the way.
Images hint that the serial killer’s influence will continue through the character of Heather Glenn. The troubled young man, portrayed by Hunter Doohan, was a patient of the psychiatrist (and Matt’s ex-girlfriend) until she killed him while defending herself after an attack in her office—an event that deeply affected her throughout the second season.
Daredevil won’t be fighting crime alone in Season 3, as some past allies are expected to return. Krysten Ritter is confirmed to reprise her role as Jessica Jones, joining Daredevil for more adventures. Reports suggest that Finn Jones as Iron Fist and Mike Colter as Luke Cage will also be appearing.
Before the second season of Daredevil: Born Again even launched, reports surfaced about plans to introduce a new character. In late 2025, Marvel Studios was reportedly searching for actors in their twenties, of any ethnicity, to play a character known only as “Phillip.” He’s described as a clever, resilient New Yorker—charming and kind, but with a simmering anger beneath the surface.
The Daredevil: Born Again Season 2 finale drops on Disney+ on May 5 at 6 p.m. PT / 9 p.m. ET.
