Tom Hardy’s Venom Is Heading to Paramount+ (But There’s a Twist)

Fans can soon stream the popular 2018 superhero movie, Venom, starring Tom Hardy, on Paramount+ starting in May.

Starting May 1st, the 2018 superhero film will be available on Paramount+, marking the first time it’s been offered on that streaming service. Currently, it can only be streamed on Disney+ and Hulu, and it will continue to be available there throughout May.

Venom Set Up Sequels That Will Never Come

The premiere of Venom on Paramount+ happened two years after the film’s initial release. In that movie, Tom Hardy’s character, Eddie Brock, said what seemed like a final goodbye to the alien symbiote that turned him into the dangerous hero, Venom. While intended as the end of Eddie’s story, The Last Dance hinted at future movies, possibly featuring characters from the comics like Agent Venom.

Bad news for fans: there won’t be any more Venom movies. The shared universe started by the original 2018 film is now over. This universe also included spin-off films like Morbius, Madame Web, and Kraven the Hunter. Sadly, none of those films were as successful as Venom, which earned $865 million worldwide, and they were poorly received by both critics and viewers.

As a big movie fan, I was a little sad to hear that Sony officially put a stop to their Spider-Man Universe after Kraven the Hunter. It seemed like the Venom trilogy was the only real win for them. That meant projects like El Muerto and Hypno-Hustler were cancelled, and even a fourth Venom movie got shelved. Still, I’m holding out hope that Venom himself might show up in a movie again someday!

What’s Next For Venom in the Marvel Multiverse?

Even though Sony’s attempt to build a Spider-Man Universe didn’t succeed, Venom is still a very popular character and will likely appear in another movie. Tom Hardy is working on a new Venom film that’s expected to be a fresh start for the series, not a continuation of the previous ones. Details are scarce, but the movie promises a new take on the Lethal Protector.

Spider-Man: No Way Home hinted at the possible arrival of Venom’s symbiote in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Although Marvel hasn’t officially addressed this for a while, we might find out more when the next movie is released on July 31. Many fans speculate this could lead to Tom Holland’s Spider-Man wearing the iconic black suit from the comics, but this hasn’t been confirmed yet.

With Venom now available on a new streaming service, fans are eager to see what the character does next in a movie. Unfortunately, it will be a while before Venom appears in his next film.

Venom will be available to stream on Paramount+ beginning May 1.
