Keneth Branagh launched Chris Hemsworth’s portrayal of Thor into the Marvel Cinematic Universe, and now he feels it’s time for the character to have a fitting conclusion. In a recent interview with Business Insider celebrating 15 years of Thor, director Kenneth Branagh explained why he didn’t direct any further Marvel films, but remains interested in returning. He had enjoyed working on Thor for three years and was open to continuing, but the faster production schedule Marvel Studios wanted didn’t align with his preferences.

I was open to doing another project, but not immediately after that one wrapped,” Branagh explains. “Filming with Marvel is demanding, and the editing process is even more so—it’s thrilling, but really intense.
