The third part of the Final Fantasy 7 Remake might be coming sooner than expected. After the releases of Final Fantasy 7 Remake and Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth, many fans thought the last game in the series was still a long way off. However, a recent announcement suggests it’s actually much closer to release than we thought.
Naoki Hamaguchi, the director of Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth, recently shared that he and Tetsuya Nomura have chosen between two potential titles for Part 3 and that development is progressing well. While video game development is always challenging and subject to change, things seem to be going smoothly with Final Fantasy 7 Remake Part 3.
Hamaguchi recently told Comicbook that the project is developing as planned and an official announcement is coming soon. While a 2026 release seems unlikely, 2027 is looking very probable.
Hamaguchi stated that development is progressing as planned. He expressed confidence that the game will be a satisfying conclusion to the trilogy, acknowledging the anticipation of fans and assuring them that an announcement is coming soon. He asked for a little more patience as they finalize preparations.
Hamaguchi is currently discussing the upcoming release of Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth on Xbox and Nintendo Switch 2. A free demo is available to play now! Once the game launches on June 3rd, the focus will likely shift to the final installment in the trilogy.
During an October 2025 interview with VGC, Yoshinori Kitase mentioned that development of Final Fantasy 7 Remake Part 3 was progressing smoothly. It’s great to hear that progress is continuing as planned.
He stated last year that the game promises to be a deeply engaging and rewarding experience for players. The team is continuing to refine and polish it, with plans to release it soon. He assured fans the game will deliver the satisfying conclusion to the series they’ve been hoping for, and expressed strong confidence in its quality.
