The Pitt Season 3: Returning Characters Confirmed

Spoilers for The Pitt season 2.

Season 3 of The Pitt will premiere in January 2027. However, the show won’t jump forward in time very far – the new season picks up just four months after the end of season 2. We’ll soon see who’s working at the Pittsburgh Trauma Medical Center’s emergency room as the weather turns colder.

You can expect most of the original cast to return for season 3 of The Pitt, though a couple of characters’ stories were left unresolved at the end of season 2. Showrunner R. Scott Gemmill has shared some of the returning actors, but is keeping a few surprises under wraps until January to keep fans guessing.

Noah Wyle As Michael “Robby” Robinavitch

Robby, despite hinting at trouble and taking a break from the show, will be back in season 3 of The Pitt (according to TVLine). His return makes sense, as he’s a central character, and executive producer Noah Wyle could still be involved even if his character isn’t featured.

Confirmed Cast For The Pitt Season 3
Actor Character
Noah Wyle Dr. Michael “Robby” Robinavitch
Katherine LaNasa Dana Evans
Sepideh Moafi Baran Al-Hashimi
Ayesha Harris Parker Ellis
Shabana Azeez Victoria Javadi
Patrick Ball Frank Langdon
Fionna Dourif Cassie McKay
Taylor Dearden Mel King
Isa Briones Trinity Santos
Gerran Howell Dennis Whitaker
Laëtitia Hollard Emma Nolan

Robby won’t be returning to the hospital a changed man. According to showrunner Gemmill, Robby won’t be back at the hospital immediately after his time off, and it will have been over three months since he was last there when he reappears in the first episode. Gemmill also confirmed that Robby is not taking care of Baby Jane Doe, putting an end to any rumors about that.

Katherine LaNasa As Dana Evans

Honestly, as much as I enjoy the show, The Pitt just wouldn’t be the same without Katherine LaNasa. Her performance as Dana Evans is incredible – she even won an Emmy for it! I’m so glad to hear she’s returning for season 3. Even after everything we’ve seen from her character, I feel like there’s still so much more to Dana’s story to uncover. (I read about it over at TVLine.)

Sepideh Moafi As Baran Al-Hashimi

Baran Al-Hashimi is set to return for season 3 of The Pitt. This might be unexpected, as the last time viewers saw her character, she was visibly upset in her car and appeared to be accepting that Robby wouldn’t let her work until her seizures were under control.

Gemmell shared with TVLine that season 3 of The Pitt will delve further into Al-Hashimi’s story, and Sepideh Moafi will reprise her role. Al-Hashimi’s idea to have two attending physicians could potentially lead to a working relationship with Robby.

Ayesha Harris As Parker Ellis

Okay, so I’m really excited about this! Dr. Parker Ellis, who’s always been such a cool head during the night shift, is switching to days. And Ayesha Harris? She’s getting a bigger role, moving from a guest star to a main cast member. Honestly, every time Dr. Ellis showed up on screen, she just owned it – so calm and collected. Now that she’s on the day shift, we’re finally going to get a real look at what makes her tick – she’s always seemed like the most unpredictable and fascinating character, and I can’t wait to see more!

Shabana Azeez As Victoria Javadi

For much of season 2 of The Pitt, it looked like Victoria Javadi might leave, but a conversation with Dr. Whitaker (Gerran Howell) led her to pursue a career in emergency psychiatry instead. According to Gemmell, this means Victoria will continue working in the emergency department, and it will be interesting to see how her parents react to this decision.

Patrick Ball As Frank Langdon

Dr. Frank Langdon has changed a lot since the first season, and his journey isn’t over yet. We’ll see how he’s doing with his sobriety in four months, when Patrick Ball returns for season 3 of The Pitt. He was understandably cautious on his first day back, but hopefully, by then, he’ll be the confident doctor fans remember from most of season 1.

Fionna Dourif As Cassie McKay

Fionna Dourif is returning as Dr. Cassie McKay in season 3 of The Pitt. Dr. McKay consistently demonstrates she’s a highly skilled and mature doctor in the emergency room, and is expected to advance to a more senior role within the next four months.

Taylor Dearden As Mel King

Taylor Dearden will return as Dr. Mel King for the third season of The Pitt. In season two, Mel starts to question her own life choices as her sister, Becca (played by Tal Anderson), becomes more independent. Season three is likely to delve deeper into this dynamic and also show the aftermath of Mel being called back for another legal deposition.

Isa Briones As Trinity Santos

Trinity Santos, known for her somewhat grumpy personality, will return for season 3 of The Pitt. Isa Briones’ character has become a little more friendly this season, even making some new friends who may play a bigger role later on. The tension between Santos and Langdon remains, so their relationship is likely to be a key focus in future episodes.

Gerran Howell As Dennis Whitaker

Dr. Dennis Whitaker will return for season 3 of The Pitt, and he’s expected to grow both professionally and personally. Meanwhile, Gerran Howell’s character unexpectedly leaves with the widow of a former patient, much to Robby’s dismay, and their evolving relationship will be a focus in the coming months.
