Over the years, the world of Pokémon has expanded beyond the main games with many spin-offs, trying out different styles of gameplay. Some, like Pokémon Snap for the Nintendo 64—which let you take pictures of Pokémon—and Pokémon Pinball on Game Boy Color, were quite unique. Most of these spin-offs still felt connected to the Pokémon universe, particularly those focused on battles, such as Pokémon Colosseum. But now, a truly unusual Pokémon game is on the horizon.
Pokémon has expanded beyond video games into some unusual products. While games like Pokémon Guess Who? and Pokémon Monopoly feel natural, others, like Pokémon Yahtzee Jr., seem a bit odd. The video game world has also seen some strange releases, such as Hey You, Pikachu, where you simply talk to Pikachu for a short time. However, the latest product from the Pokémon Center might be the most surprising yet.
Furret Bowling Might Be The Weirdest Pokémon Game Ever
The Furret Bowling Set Plush is a fun toy that comes with six Furret-shaped bowling pins and a Poké Ball to use as the bowling ball. It costs $44.99. Each Furret pin has a different facial expression, though it’s a little strange they don’t look scared considering they’re constantly being knocked over!
As a longtime Pokémon fan – and I’ve played a lot of these games, including the card game – Furret Bowling is seriously one of the weirdest, but coolest things I’ve seen! Whether you’re a Furret fanatic or just find them amusing as targets, this Pokémon Center exclusive is definitely unique. Honestly, Furret isn’t the most famous Pokémon from Gold and Silver, so it’s great to see them getting some extra love in such a fun way!
A Pokémon Bowling Video Game Could Be A Lot Of Fun
To be honest, a Pokémon Bowling game sounds really great! While maybe not every pin should be a Furret, the combination of bowling and Pokémon collecting seems like a lot of fun. It reminds me of Pokémon Pinball on the Game Boy Color, which I still love. It would be cool to upgrade your bowling ball to look like different Poké Balls, and having bowling alleys based on various Pokémon regions – like the Celadon Game Corner – would be fantastic.
The game could feature rivals and well-known characters from the core Pokémon series – imagine Professor Oak sporting a bowling outfit! There are countless options for who could compete, and Pokémon games combined with sports have proven successful before. If a Pokémon game can teach typing, a Pokémon bowling game is definitely possible.
For three decades, Pokémon has remained incredibly popular, and it doesn’t look like that will change anytime soon. We can expect more unique games like the recent Pokémon Pokopia for the Switch 2 and the free-to-play Pokémon Champions. While a full-blown Pokémon bowling game seems unlikely, it would be fantastic! Even without that, the Furret Bowling Set Plus available at the Pokémon Center is a fun and unusual item.
