It’s a great time to be a gamer who loves movies! Nintendo is bringing The Legend of Zelda to the big screen, following the success of the Super Mario Bros. films. And fans just received the biggest and most exciting update about the project yet!
I’m so excited! They’ve finished filming the movie, which is coming out in 2027, and it’s fantastic news. But get this – Gyula Pados, the director of photography, just shared the very first look at Link in his full costume, and honestly, it’s absolutely breathtaking. I’m completely blown away!
To put it plainly, the tunic is definitely tunic’ing.
What Is the Latest On The Legend of Zelda Movie?
The answer is … all good things.
Sony Pictures and Nintendo have teamed up to create a live-action movie based on The Legend of Zelda, directed by Wes Ball, known for Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes and the Maze Runner films. Bo Bragason (Censor, The Radleys) will play Princess Zelda, and Evan Ainsworth (The Haunting of Bly Manor, Everything’s Going to Be Great) will star as Link.
Fans might recognize the filming locations, as parts of The Legend of Zelda are being shot in Otago and Glenorchy – the same areas Sir Peter Jackson used for his famous fantasy films in the early 2000s. Early hints in the story also suggest connections to the classic Nintendo 64 game, The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time.
This is a developing story so be sure to check back for more info!
