Honestly, after a really tough day, nothing hits the spot like a great action thriller, and Prime Video’s Reacher totally delivers. I’ve been hooked for all three seasons! It’s packed with action, some pretty intense violence, and the fight scenes are seriously well done. But let’s be real, a big part of the fun is watching Alan Ritchson – the guy is huge – just absolutely demolish the bad guys. It’s incredibly satisfying!
If you enjoy Reacher, you’ll be happy to know there are plenty of similar shows out there—and some might even be better! Here are 10 fantastic action thrillers to check out, guaranteed to keep you hooked.
‘The Terminal List’ – Prime Video (1 Season, 2022-Present)

As a huge fan of suspenseful stories, I was really hooked by The Terminal List. It’s one of Chris Pratt’s projects after his time as Star-Lord, and it’s packed with intense action – think brutal close combat and lots of gunfights. The story centers around Lieutenant Commander James Reece, a Navy SEAL, after his team falls into a deadly ambush on a secret operation. When he gets back home, Reece starts to doubt his own memories of what happened. He quickly realizes someone powerful is working against him, and he’ll do anything – anything – to protect his family from the danger that follows.
I’m really excited for the second season of this action series! Chris Pratt is back, and he’s joined by a fantastic cast including Constance Wu, Taylor Kitsch – who’s also getting his own spin-off called The Terminal List: Dark Wolf, which sounds awesome – Riley Keough, Arlo Mertz, and Jeanne Tripplehorn. We’re finally getting new episodes on Prime Video later this year, and I can’t wait!
‘Bloodhounds’ – Netflix (2 Seasons, 2023-Present)
Let me tell you, South Korea is killing it with action TV right now, and Bloodhounds is a prime example. This series grabbed me from the start, centering on Kim Gun-woo, a really promising boxer whose life gets turned upside down when his mother becomes a target of a seriously nasty loan shark group called Smile Capital. He teams up with Hong Woo-jin, an ex-Marine who’s also found an outlet in boxing, and surprisingly, a local moneylender named Choi Tae-ho. Together, these three are determined to bring Smile Capital down, no matter what it takes. Be warned, though – this show is bloody. It’s definitely not for the faint of heart. But if you can stomach it, the fight scenes are incredibly well done, beautifully choreographed and filmed. It’s a visually stunning, adrenaline-pumping ride.
The series features a cast including Woo Do-hwan, Lee Sang-yi, Tae Won-seok, Choi Siwon, Yun Yoo-sun, and Choi Young-joon. Currently, it’s still unknown whether there will be a third season.
‘Hanna’ – Prime Video (3 Seasons, 2019-2021)

Imagine being the ultimate weapon. The Prime Video series Hanna is inspired by the 2011 film starring Saoirse Ronan. This version features Hanna, a 15-year-old girl, living with her father in the forests of Poland. She was created as part of a secret CIA program to genetically engineer super-soldiers, giving her extraordinary abilities. When her father, Erik, fell in love with her mother, he rescued Hanna from the facility. The CIA then ordered the project, called UTRAX, to be shut down and sent agent Marissa to destroy all the children involved – including Hanna. What follows is a captivating story of a young woman coming of age, all while being caught up in a thrilling, fast-paced action adventure.
The series Hanna features Esmé Creed-Miles, Mireille Enos, Áine Rose Daily, Cherrelle Skeete, Dermot Mulroney, Yasmin Monet Prince, and Joel Kinnaman in its cast.
‘Daredevil’ – Netflix (3 Seasons, 2015-2018)

The Marvel shows on Netflix were a special era for fans. While it’s exciting to see these street-level heroes now part of the main Marvel Cinematic Universe, many still prefer the original Netflix series, especially Daredevil. While the new Daredevil: Born Again isn’t necessarily flawed, it’s different. The show centers on Matt Murdock, a lawyer who is blind and secretly fights crime as the vigilante Daredevil in New York City. He clashes with Wilson Fisk, the ruthless crime boss known as Kingpin. Daredevil features incredibly well-done fight scenes – some of the best action sequences you’ll find, and they’re truly captivating.
The series stars Charlie Cox, Deborah Ann Woll, Elden Henson, and Vincent D’Onofrio.
‘Cross’ – Prime Video (2 Seasons, 2024-Present)

Don’t miss Cross, the popular new crime thriller on Prime Video! The show centers around Alex Cross, a detective and forensic psychologist in Washington, D.C. He’s dedicated to solving crimes by understanding what motivates both the criminals and the victims, relentlessly pursuing justice. Cross also thoughtfully explores important issues like racial inequality and flaws within the justice system, while delivering plenty of fast-paced action, suspense, and psychological intrigue.
Cross stars Aldis Hodge, Isaiah Mustafa, Alona Tal, Juanita Jennings, Samantha Walkes, Caleb Elijah, Melody Hurd, and Johnny Ray Gill. The third season is coming soon.
‘Alice in Borderland’ – Netflix (3 Seasons, 2020-2025)

Everyone enjoys a thrilling action series that breaks the mold, especially when it mixes in sci-fi! Alice in Borderland is a one-of-a-kind show adapted from Haro Aso’s popular manga. It centers on Arisu, an unemployed gamer who suddenly wakes up in a bizarre, deserted Tokyo. He and his friends are forced to compete in deadly games if they want to stay alive. With stunning visuals, intense action, and a gripping story of survival, Alice in Borderland is a truly captivating watch.
The series Alice in Borderland features Kento Yamazaki, Tao Tsuchiya, Nijirô Murakami, Aya Asahina, Yûtarô Watanabe, and Keita Machida in leading roles.
‘Tom Clancy’s Jack Ryan’ – Prime Video (4 Seasons, 2018-2023)
John Krasinski, best known as Jim from The Office, has transformed his physique and is now a strong contender for the next big action hero. In 2018, he took on the role of Jack Ryan, a CIA analyst, in Tom Clancy’s Jack Ryan, moving from a desk job to dangerous field work. The series begins when Ryan uncovers some strange financial transactions, which quickly pull him into a high-stakes conspiracy. If you enjoy action thrillers filled with political twists, spy games, and plenty of explosions, Tom Clancy’s Jack Ryan is a great choice.
The show features John Krasinski alongside Wendell Pierce, Michael Kelly, Abbie Cornish, and Betty Gabriel.
‘Black Doves’ – Netflix (1 Season, 2024)

Keira Knightley shines in the new spy thriller, Black Doves, and it’s a must-watch. From Joe Barton, the creator of the excellent The Lazarus Project, the series stars Knightley as Helen, the wife of the Defence Secretary, who also secretly works as a spy. When her lover is killed by London criminals, her secret life is threatened. Helen’s employers, a mysterious group called the Black Doves, send an old friend named Sam to help her protect her identity. Black Doves is a thrilling, fast-paced, and often violent show that doesn’t take itself too seriously, offering a clever blend of action and dark humor.
Alongside Keira Knightley, Black Doves also features Ben Whishaw, Sarah Lancashire, Andrew Buchan, Andrew Koji, Omari Douglas, Sam Troughton, Ella Lily Hyland, and Isabella Wei. A second season is currently being made.
’24’ – FOX (8 Seasons, 2001-2010)

Okay, so I recently rewatched 24, and wow, it still holds up! For years, it was the show to watch if you wanted a seriously thrilling action series, especially on regular TV. The main character, Jack Bauer, is basically a guy who believes the ends always justify the means – he’ll do whatever it takes. He works for the Counter Terrorist Unit in Los Angeles, and the whole show is about him trying to stop terrorist attacks. What really sets 24 apart, though, is that everything happens in ‘real time’ – each episode covers just one hour in the story. That makes it unbelievably tense and keeps you on the edge of your seat the entire time. Seriously, the stakes feel incredibly high!
The show features Sutherland alongside Mary Lynn Rajskub, Carlos Bernard, Dennis Haysbert, Elisha Cuthbert, and James Morrison.
‘The Night Agent’ – Netflix (3 Seasons, 2023-Present)

It’s always great to see someone unexpectedly succeed! That’s what happens to FBI agent Peter Sutherland in the hit Netflix series, The Night Agent. He spends his days answering a rarely-used phone in the White House basement—until it rings, launching him into a complex conspiracy that reaches the highest levels of power. Peter finds himself racing to uncover a traitor while also protecting Rose Larkin, a tech CEO whose aunt and uncle were murdered. The Night Agent is incredibly captivating and easy to watch all the way through – it’s full of action, suspense, and pure entertainment.
The action-thriller The Night Agent features Gabriel Basso, Fola Evans-Akingbola, Luciane Buchanan, Louis Herthum, Albert Jones, and Amanda Warren. A new season, season 4, is scheduled to begin filming shortly.
