The upcoming movie, Spider-Man: Brand New Day, is scheduled to release on July 31, 2026, and fans are excited to see what happens next for Spider-Man in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. While Peter Parker has faced huge challenges before – like battling Thanos and being erased from existence – Brand New Day finds him in a particularly difficult situation, and it’s uncertain how he’ll overcome it this time.
The movie Spider-Man: No Way Home ends with Peter Parker making a heartbreaking choice: he asks everyone to forget his identity as Peter Parker, though they still remember Spider-Man. This means losing connections with important people like his girlfriend, MJ, and his best friend, Ned. After already experiencing the loss of Aunt May in No Way Home and Tony Stark in Avengers: Endgame, Peter is now completely isolated, as no one recognizes him. The trailer for Brand New Day shows that he continues to struggle with this loneliness.
The trailer suggests Peter is working to rebuild his friendships with MJ and Ned, which is different from how he ended things in No Way Home – choosing to let them live normal lives without the knowledge of his identity as Spider-Man. It’s still unclear if he’ll fully reconnect with them, but the upcoming film, Brand New Day, needs to deliver an ending that Tom Holland’s Spider-Man movies haven’t shown us since Spider-Man: Homecoming.
Peter Parker ‘Lost’ In Far From Home And No Way Home
Both Spider-Man: Far From Home and No Way Home end with a kind of defeat for Peter Parker/Spider-Man. While Far From Home appears to conclude with Peter safely returning home with MJ and having defeated Mysterio, the scene after the credits changes everything. Even though Peter stopped Mysterio, Mysterio had planned ahead. He left behind a way to expose Peter’s secret identity as Spider-Man, even after his death.
While Peter successfully helps the villains from No Way Home find redemption and prevents a multiversal disaster caused by Doctor Strange’s spell, the fact that everyone forgets him feels like a loss. He’s left with nothing and no one. Considering both the successes and failures, this marks the first time a Spider-Man movie starring the MCU’s Peter Parker hasn’t ended on a genuinely positive note since Homecoming.
Spider-Man Needs A Clear Win In Brand New Day
As a huge Marvel fan, I’m really hoping Brand New Day fixes the mess that No Way Home left us with – mostly, will MJ and Ned finally remember Peter? The trailer definitely seems to hint they might, with how much we see of them, but we’ll have to wait and see. Honestly, more than anything, I just want Peter to have a genuine victory by the end of this movie. He’s been through so much, he deserves a win.
The upcoming film, Brand New Day, promises high stakes and numerous challenges for Spider-Man. These obstacles aren’t simply about the public forgetting his identity; the trailer reveals several villains, suggesting Spider-Man will be up against multiple threats.
The movie Spider-Man: Brand New Day doesn’t need to tie up every loose end, as that would feel forced and uninteresting. However, Spider-Man should definitely achieve a more satisfying outcome than he did in Far From Home or No Way Home.
