Blue Lock’s Strongest Characters

I’m a huge fan of sports anime, and some of the best out there, like Slam Dunk, Yuri on Ice, and Haikyuu!!, really set the bar. But Blue Lock is something different! It takes that classic sports anime energy and mixes it with the intensity you’d expect from a Shonen battle series. What’s really cool is it doesn’t emphasize teamwork like a lot of others. Instead, it pushes these characters to be incredibly selfish and prove they deserve a place on the Japanese National Team – it’s all about individual ego and skill!

While some players in Blue Lock are naturally talented, many others improved significantly through the program. Each player has a different connection to soccer, and not all of them are naturally gifted goalscorers. Despite this, they’re skilled enough to play various positions, demonstrating their ability to grow with practice and experience. Ultimately, though, not everyone reaches the level of the very best players in Blue Lock.

Zantetsu’s Speed and Strikes Pack a Heavy Punch

Zantetsu is a remarkably skilled player. Although he doesn’t know much about the world around him, he’s become one of the best players thanks to his natural talent. Because he’s left-handed, he plays as a reverse winger, which lets him surprise opponents and get past their defenses.

Zantetsu’s “Explosive Acceleration” is so powerful it can disrupt even Chigiri’s balance, but he can’t keep up that speed for very long. His hits are strong, even when he’s just passing, making him incredibly unpredictable. Sadly, Zantetsu hasn’t been a major player in Blue Lock recently.

Otoya’s Energetic Playstyle Often Produces Results On The Field

Eita Otoya, nicknamed “The Ninja,” is a famous soccer player who plays right wing for FC Barcha. He first gained attention by finishing fourth in the Third Selection, though other players eventually rose above him in the rankings. Otoya is known for being calm and collected, which is unusual for someone striving to be a top soccer player.

Otoya has a knack for getting inside his opponents’ heads, subtly causing them to make errors. His energetic and aggressive style of play as a Shadow Striker often leads to success, though it doesn’t make him popular with the competition. Luckily, he’s fast and stealthy, allowing him to sidestep any direct confrontations.

Karasu May Be Arrogant, But He’s a Surprisingly Good Leader

Karasu is one of the top strikers in the Blue Lock program, ranking third out of three hundred. Despite sometimes coming across as arrogant, he’s a skilled leader who excels at creating strategies and adapting plays during games. He’s crucial to the Blue Lock 11 team, especially when facing difficult opponents. As their midfield leader, Karasu controls the pace and directs his teammates on the field.

I’m absolutely fascinated by Karasu’s style of play! He’s just incredible with the ball, always knowing where everything is on the field. But what really gets me is his strategy – he deliberately acts like he doesn’t even care, lulling opponents into a false sense of security. They think he’s slacking off, and that’s when he completely takes over. Seriously, even against someone as strong as Sae Itoshi, you can just see how brilliant his tactics are. He’s a true mastermind!

Reo Understands The Fundamentals of Soccer Better Than Most

Reo Mikage is a standout player in Blue Lock, showing impressive versatility – he can effectively play any position on the field. However, his overconfidence sometimes causes unnecessary errors, which holds him back in the rankings. Despite not having as much experience as some of the other players, Reo has a remarkably strong grasp of the game’s core principles.

Reo understands the need to think long-term, not just focus on immediate gains. He’s a gifted all-around athlete who has consistently performed well in the program, even when not playing with Nagi. As a versatile player, Reo can quickly adapt to any role or strategy, which throws his opponents off balance. He’s also able to learn and imitate other players’ styles after seeing them play just once.

Yukimiya Pretends to be a Pacifist While Provoking His Opponents

Yukimiya is one of the most skilled players in Blue Lock, and he thinks his team can win without a fight if he’s the one scoring. Despite claiming to be peaceful, he’s actually a master of one-on-one battles. He uses trash talk and incredible dribbling to get under his opponents’ skin. His quick footwork is nearly impossible to beat, particularly when he’s close to the defender.

Yukimiya uses a quick scissor feint to throw opponents off balance. He’s also capable of entering a highly focused state, similar to being “in the zone.” While Chigiri is known for his speed, Yukimiya is also incredibly fast, giving him a rare advantage over competitors.

Tokimitsu Moves With Such Force That He’s Called A Muscle Bullet

Aoshi Tokimitsu seems surprisingly shy and insecure, even scared of the ball and other players, despite his impressive performance in the First Selection of Blue Lock. But viewers realize that only players with a hidden, powerful ability could make it to the Second Selection.

During the match against Isagi’s team, Tokimitsu showcased incredible speed and power, leading Isagi to nickname him a “muscle bullet.” He’s one of the physically strongest players in Blue Lock, and functions like a classic Target Man – creating opportunities and openings for his teammates. However, a direct hit from Tokimitsu would be devastating and leave opponents unable to respond.

Aryu’s Reach Allows Him To Steal The Ball Without Wasting Energy

Jyubei Aryu isn’t seen during the first part of Blue Lock, but he makes a huge impact when he appears in the Second Selection. We first meet him while he’s waiting for his match, and he quickly joins forces with Tokimitsu and Rin. Together, they face off against Nagi, Bachira, and Isagi in a 3-on-3 game.

Aryu’s long limbs and height give him an impressive reach, letting him easily steal the ball and score goals without overexerting himself. He can jump exceptionally high, intimidating and outplaying shorter players to win possession in the air. Aryu has developed several jumping moves that can break through strong defenses. However, his tendency to prioritize style over substance remains a significant weakness.

Aiku’s Automatic Reflexes Make Him An Intimidating Force On The Field

Aiku is a skilled soccer player who has played for the Japan U-20 team and in Italy. He’s a defender known for his ability to read the game and anticipate where the ball will go. Aiku is a key player in the Japan U-20 defense, thanks to his smooth and hard-to-predict style of play. He’s so versatile that switching from a forward position to defense came naturally to him.

Aiku is a Libero, a soccer player known for his incredible agility and smooth movements. He’s also exceptionally strong, rivaling or even surpassing Tokimitsu in physical power. Combined with his impressive jumping ability, endurance, and quick reactions, he’s a dominant presence on the field. Aiku’s skills are so vital that he’s a key player for the U-20 team, famously called the Diamond Generation.

Kunigami Is Not The Same Player Audiences Remember

Rensuke Kunigami played on Team Z during the first round of selections in Blue Lock. He used to let his strong emotions get in the way of his performance, but he’s now learned to control them and use them to his advantage. Although he was initially eliminated from the second selection, he was given a special opportunity – a ‘Wild Card’ – that allowed him to stay in the program.

Kunigami is a truly talented forward for Bastard München. He’s naturally a skilled shooter, and being left-footed gives him an extra edge when scoring goals. He’s come a long way since the first season of Blue Lock – he’s now a much more versatile and dangerous player with a wide range of abilities.

Chigiri Is A Soccer Genius Slowly Climbing Back To The Top

Chigiri was an incredibly talented soccer player whose career stalled due to a leg injury. He’d lost his passion for the game, but rediscovered it after joining Blue Lock and confronting his anxieties. Initially detached, Chigiri began to change as he witnessed Isagi’s strong determination. He’s also exceptionally fast, consistently winning speed drills against the other players.

Opponents simply can’t match Chigiri’s quickness, giving him a significant edge in individual matchups. His 44 Panther Snipe is a result of the skills he’s developed at Blue Lock, utilizing precise angles to create a flawless shot. He’s also a skilled defender, using his incredible speed to create impressive blocks and counterattacks.
