Best Medicine Among Hulu’s Top Watched Series

The show Best Medicine is finding success across multiple platforms. After the season one finale, it’s currently the 6th most-watched program on Hulu, as reported by FlixPatrol.

Although critics didn’t rave about Best Medicine, the show quickly attracted a large audience. The premiere episode drew 12.6 million viewers, making it one of the two most-watched new drama debuts this season among adults aged 18-49.

What is Best Medicine About?

In the show Best Medicine, Dr. Martin Best, a highly skilled surgeon, unexpectedly gives up his Boston career to become a family doctor in the small coastal town where he used to spend his summers. His direct and often insensitive approach to patients clashes with the unique and demanding personalities of the town’s residents, quickly causing friction. Despite this, he’s the only doctor available to them.

People have compared the show Best Medicine to House, but it’s generally more upbeat. It currently has a 77% positive rating on Rotten Tomatoes, and reviewers say while it follows familiar medical drama tropes, it does so with a lot of heart and likeability.

Best Medicine Has a Bright Future

. That means Josh Charles will be back for another season of medical misadventures as Martin Best.

Fox Television Network President Michael Thorn announced the renewal of Best Medicine, calling it a breakout hit this season. He praised the show’s combination of witty humor and genuine emotion, highlighting Liz Tuccillo’s unique creative vision and the strong performance of the cast, led by Josh Charles. Both Fox and Propagate are looking forward to continuing the show’s success with a second season.

Dominic Minghella created the show Best Medicine. Martin Clunes, best known as the star of Doc Martin, made a guest appearance in Season 1, episode “Doc Martin,” playing the father of the character Martin, Dr. Robert Best.

Alongside Charles, the show Best Medicine also stars Abigail Spencer as Louisa Gavin, a teacher, Josh Segarra as Sheriff Mark Mylow, Cree as Elaine Denton, the sheriff’s assistant, and Annie Potts as Martin’s Aunt Sarah, who runs the town’s lobster business.

I’m really excited to hear that Best Medicine is coming back! Fox has announced it’ll be part of their 2026-2027 season, alongside a bunch of other shows they’ve already renewed. I can’t wait to see what they’ve got planned!
