Taylor Sheridan lassos another major streaming win.
Taylor Sheridan has become well-known for creating a wide range of successful TV shows, spanning genres like crime thrillers, spy dramas, and Westerns. He’s the creative force behind popular series such as Mayor of Kingstown, Lioness, and several shows connected to Yellowstone. Now, one of his original Western projects is gaining a lot of attention on streaming services.
As of today, Taylor Sheridan’s Yellowstone is the second most popular show on Paramount+ globally. The show that launched Sheridan’s success in Westerns is performing better than some of his newer projects. Marshals, which follows Kayce Dutton’s story, is close behind at number three, and The Madison, a separate Western series from Sheridan, is sixth.
Beyond his popular Western series, Taylor Sheridan also has success with Tulsa King, currently ranked 5th, proving his ability to create compelling stories in various genres. However, the rankings within the United States are different. Only two of his shows appear on that list: The Madison, at number 4, and Marshals, at number 7.
Although it originally aired in 2018, you won’t find the popular Western drama Yellowstone on Paramount+ in the US. Instead, it streams on Peacock. Starring Kevin Costner as John Dutton III, the show ran for five seasons, with the final episode airing on December 15, 2024. But the story of the Dutton family isn’t over yet!
So far, two shows have spun off from Yellowstone. 1883 tells the story of how the Dutton family first acquired the land that would become the famous Yellowstone Ranch. Then, 1923 showed what life was like for the Duttons during the Prohibition era, featuring a talented cast including Harrison Ford, Helen Mirren, Brandon Sklenar, and Timothy Dalton.
Taylor Sheridan has big plans for the Yellowstone universe, including a new series called Marshals that will focus on Kayce. Fans can also look forward to Dutton Ranch, premiering on May 15th, which will feature the return of Kelly Reilly as Beth Dutton and Cole Hauser as Rip Wheeler. The continued popularity of Yellowstone on streaming suggests strong interest in all the future installments.
The upcoming slate of projects includes a prequel to Yellowstone called 1944. This show could feature Harrison Ford’s character, Spencer Dutton from 1923, as an older man. Another planned series, 6666, will explore the history of the famous Four Sixes Ranch in Texas. Overall, the future of the Yellowstone universe looks promising.
