Malcolm in the Middle Spinoff Creator Addresses Potential Season 2 Return

Linwood Boomer, the creator of Malcolm in the Middle, hasn’t dismissed the possibility of another season for the show’s revival, but it doesn’t seem likely to happen in the near future.

In a recent conversation, Boomer explained that he sees a potential revival of Life’s Still Unfair as a limited project, recognizing that Bryan Cranston and Frankie Muniz have very full schedules. While scheduling a complete season would be challenging, Boomer shared that revisiting Malcolm in the Middle was enjoyable and he’s open to the possibility of doing it again.

Boomer believes a very specific set of circumstances would need to occur for that to happen. He doubts he’ll still be around if it takes another 17 years, but hopes one of his children might be able to do it instead.

The revival series includes four half-hour episodes, all written by Boomer and directed by Ken Kwapis. The story centers around Malcolm returning home with his daughter when his parents, Hal and Lois, request his presence for their 40th wedding anniversary, inevitably pulling them into the family’s usual craziness.

All four episodes of Malcolm in the Middle: Life’s Still Unfairare now streaming on Disney+.
