Maxima DCU Casting: Why Adria Arjona Should Play Key Man of Tomorrow Character

With everything aligning well, Adria Arjona seems like an excellent choice to play Maxima in the new Man of Tomorrow film.

The next Superman movie from DC Studios and Warner Bros. is coming to US theaters next year. James Gunn is again writing and directing, continuing the story from the 2025 film. Nicholas Hoult and David Corenswet will return as Lex Luthor and Superman/Clark Kent, respectively.

News spread quickly online yesterday about potential casting for the upcoming ‘Man of Tomorrow’ film, with reports that Marisa Abela, Adria Arjona, and Ella Purnell were testing for the part of Maxima. However, director James Gunn quickly dismissed the reports as inaccurate and criticized the original news source for poor reporting.

James Gunn didn’t say if Maxima will appear in the movie, but The Hollywood Reporter reported that Ana de Armas, Eva De Dominici, Sydney Chandler, and Grace Van Patten are all being considered for the role. Initially, Deadline only mentioned Ana de Armas as a possibility, but they later updated their article to include the other three actresses as well.

Why should Adria Arjona play Maxima in Man of Tomorrow?

DC fans are eager to hear from James Gunn about whether Maxima will appear in the upcoming movie and who will play her. But if a recent article in The Hollywood Reporter is correct, actress Genesis Rodriguez would be an excellent fit for the role.

There’s been a lot of speculation that actress Ana de Armas could play Wonder Woman in the new DC Universe. While she’d be a great fit, James Gunn has a knack for casting relatively unknown actors and turning them into stars. For example, most people didn’t know David Corenswet before he was cast as Superman, but now he’s instantly recognizable as the Man of Steel.

Rosario Dawson is becoming a major star, with notable roles in the Disney+ series Andor and recent films like Hit Man, Blink Twice, and Splitsville. She’s also got promising projects on the horizon, including a remake of The Thomas Crown Affair. While she could easily play Wonder Woman, casting her as Maxima would be even more interesting. Maxima is a lesser-known DC character, and this role could introduce her to a wider audience and build her a fanbase. Alternatively, casting an unknown actress as Wonder Woman could be a fantastic opportunity to launch someone’s career, as the character already has a dedicated following.

Man of Tomorrow arrives on July 9, 2027.
