Harry Potter‘s magic is already spreading worldwide.
The Harry Potter movies are some of the most beloved films ever made, so fans always hoped the Wizarding World would continue beyond the original series. That continuation first came with the Fantastic Beasts films starring Eddie Redmayne. However, because the Fantastic Beasts movies didn’t perform well at the box office, plans for future films were cancelled.
Rather than create a new story within the existing magical universe, the creators have chosen to retell the original Harry Potter story as a TV series. HBO plans to adapt each book over ten years, starting with Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone as the first season, expected in late 2026. A special preview episode has already been released to great success.
According to FlixPatrol, the behind-the-scenes special Finding Harry: The Craft Behind the Magic is currently the second most popular movie on HBO Max globally. Released on April 5th, it quickly became a hit, offering viewers their first detailed look at HBO’s new Harry Potter series. It’s only behind 28 Years Later: The Bone Temple in terms of viewership.
As of today, Finding Harry: The Craft Behind the Magic is popular in 25 countries worldwide. The HBO documentary about the Harry Potter series is currently the most-watched movie on HBO Max in 10 countries, like Belgium, France, Italy, and Spain. The special is also doing very well with viewers in the United States.
Currently, the Harry Potter special, Finding Harry: The Craft Behind the Magic, is the fourth most popular movie on HBO Max across the country. It’s performing better than well-known films like The Devil Wears Prada, The Mummy Returns, John Wick: Chapter 4, and Alien, proving how strong the Harry Potter brand still is. This success suggests the first season will have a very popular launch around Christmas.
A special celebrating the Harry Potter series is narrated by Nick Frost, who is also taking on the role of Hagrid in the new HBO Max show. The documentary includes interviews with several actors from the films, such as John Lithgow (as Albus Dumbledore), Janet McTeer (as Minerva McGonagall), and Paapa Essiedu (as Severus Snape). It also looks at how the show’s three main stars were chosen.
Fans will get an exclusive behind-the-scenes look at the making of the Harry Potter series, including early glimpses of sets, costumes, and creatures. Interviews with the designers and effects teams will reveal the magic behind this incredible world before the show premieres. Following the success of a recent special, excitement for HBO’s Harry Potter series is at an all-time high.
