A Star Wars fan recently discovered a possible hidden clue in the first season of Ahsoka, which originally aired in 2023. This clue might hint at a major plot point for the upcoming second season and suggests a character rumored to appear has been connected to the story all along. Ahsoka is a significant series for the Star Wars universe, particularly for the future of the interconnected shows and movies known as the MandoVerse. Even though Disney and Lucasfilm haven’t released a trailer for the new season yet, fans are already speculating about what’s to come.
A large, winged creature resembling a bat was spotted flying in the background of a scene from Ahsoka Season 1, Episode 6, on the planet Peridea. Shared on X by @moraimessenger, the creature isn’t a main part of the shot, but appears far in the distance. Fans have noticed it bears a striking resemblance to a key character expected to appear in Season 2 of the Disney+ series.

As a huge movie fan, I was fascinated by this character – it’s actually the Son, one of the Mortis gods! These gods first showed up in Season 3 of The Clone Wars, and the idea behind them was really cool: they were meant to be the Force made physical. The Son specifically represents the dark side, while his sister embodies the light. Their father? He was supposed to be the perfect balance between the two, a really interesting concept.

The Mortis episodes of The Clone Wars showed the Son could turn into a bat-like being, and this creature closely resembles one seen on Peridea in Season 1 of Ahsoka.
In The Clone Wars, the Son appears as a creature with large wings, clawed feet, and a sizable head featuring pointed ears.

Even though the creature in Ahsoka wasn’t always clearly shown, it’s obvious it has large wings and a big head. Its feet also look a lot like those of the other creature, suggesting the two designs share many similarities.
The Mortis gods are anticipated to play a role in Season 2 of Ahsoka. The first season ended with Baylan Skoll (played by Ray Stevenson) standing near a statue of the Father, with statues of the Son and a headless Daughter flanking it on either side.
The mysterious Mortis gods have a clear connection to Ahsoka’s personal journey. They also appeared in Season 4 of Star Wars Rebels, and with many characters from Rebels now in Ahsoka, it seems very probable they’ll play a role in the show’s second season.
We’ve seen hints about how the Mortis gods might be involved in the next part of the story. It’s also worth remembering that Ahsoka has a long-standing connection to the Daughter, going all the way back to The Clone Wars.
As a huge fan of The Clone Wars, that Mortis arc really blew me away. It seemed like Ahsoka actually died, which was heartbreaking! But then the Daughter sacrificed herself, transferring her life force into Ahsoka to bring her back. It was a bittersweet moment because the Daughter was gone, but her spirit lived on through this beautiful bird, a convor named Morai. Morai started following Ahsoka around, and it was clear they had a special, almost spiritual connection. It’s one of my favorite parts of the series!
Some fans think the Daughter’s spirit either resides within Ahsoka Tano or took form as the creature Morai. Since Morai appeared prominently in Season 1 of Ahsoka, it’s possible the bat-like creature is actually the Son, appearing in his animal form.
What Role Could the Son Play in Ahsoka Season 2?
If the Mortis gods appear in Season 2 of Ahsoka, they’ll probably be connected to the story happening on Peridea. The new season is expected to have two main storylines with roughly equal focus. One will follow Ahsoka, Sabine, Huyang, Shin Hati, and Baylan Skoll on Peridea, while the other will center on Thrawn, Ezra, and Hera in the main Star Wars galaxy.
In Season 1, Baylan Skoll sensed a powerful presence on Peridea. While he likely felt the Mortis gods, it’s also possible he was responding to Abeloth – a tremendously powerful, monstrous being closely connected to them.
With Anakin Skywalker expected to appear in Ahsoka Season 2, it’s likely we’ll see another encounter involving the powerful Mortis gods, Ahsoka, and Anakin. This time, Anakin might actively participate in the conflict, potentially helping Ahsoka defeat Abeloth (if she appears) or even taking control from the Son and the Father to become the new guardian of the universe.
This would mean Anakin goes beyond simply becoming one with the Force, finally fulfilling the prophecy of the Chosen One. It would also establish him as a permanent, central figure in the Star Wars saga, lasting indefinitely unless the Force falls into imbalance again, leading to the emergence of a new Chosen One who would succeed him – just as he succeeded the previous figure in that role.
This storyline would nicely complete a long-running arc, because in The Clone Wars, Anakin was asked by his Father to become the one who maintains balance in the universe.
