Looking for a great TV show to watch this weekend, January 9–11, 2026? These three HBO Max series are all new, incredibly popular, and offer high-quality production, smart writing, and compelling stories that are perfect for binging.
HBO Max has a great lineup of new shows this weekend, and our TV experts at Ebaster have picked out the three best ones. Whether you’re excited for a new season of a favorite show or can’t get enough true crime, these series are definitely worth watching.
Industry
The popular HBO drama Industry is back on Sunday, January 11th, airing in HBO’s prime Sunday night slot. Season four welcomes new faces, including Charlie Heaton (known from Stranger Things) and Kiernan Shipka (Mad Men), alongside returning favorites Myha’la and Kit Harington.
Critics are calling season 4 of Industry the best yet, with Graeme Guttman of Ebaster among those praising it as an all-time great. If you haven’t already, it’s a compelling series to binge-watch! The new season starts this Sunday at 9 PM Eastern Time, and all previous episodes (seasons 1-3) are available to stream on HBO Max.
The Pitt
The second season of The Pitt premiered on HBO Max this Thursday, January 8th, continuing the show’s impressive streak. It recently won 5 Emmy Awards, including the top prize for Outstanding Drama Series, and also took home 3 Critics’ Choice Awards last weekend. The show is also nominated for several Golden Globe Awards this Sunday and is expected to win at least one or two more major awards.
Season 2 of The Pitt brings back most of the original cast, including Noah Wyle, known for his role in ER, as the likable and dedicated Dr. Robby. The show will continue with its format of focusing on a single, intense 15-hour shift in a busy Pittsburgh emergency room with each episode covering one hour of that shift. New episodes of The Pitt season 2 will air on Thursday nights and continue through mid-April 2026.
The Cult Behind The Killer: The Andrea Yates Story
Currently, the most popular show on HBO Max globally, and the third most-watched in the U.S., is the true-crime series The Cult Behind The Killer: The Andrea Yates Story. This three-part documentary offers a disturbing and revealing examination of Andrea Yates, who tragically killed her five children in 2001 while battling postpartum depression.
This documentary series doesn’t primarily focus on the crimes Andrea Yates committed, but instead on the harmful influence of Michael Woroniecki, a controversial street preacher. It examines how Woroniecki gained the trust of Andrea’s husband, Rusty, and how that relationship ultimately played a role in Andrea’s tragic actions.
As a big true crime fan, I’m so excited about this new series! Everyone’s talking about it – it’s currently #1 trending and completely gripping. You can stream it right now on HBO Max.
