A recent report from The Hollywood Reporter discussed the future of Paramount’s Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles franchise. It mentioned the cancellation of the spin-off series, Tales of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, which only lasted for two seasons.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, the cancellation of one project caused concerns that the entire Mutant Mayhem franchise was at risk. However, Paramount executives still have high hopes for the series, and a sequel is still planned. Discussions are also underway with Seth Rogen – who co-wrote and starred in the first film – about a potential third movie.
Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Mutant Mayhem, a fresh reboot of the classic film series, premiered in 2023. Directed by Jeff Rowe, this animated movie tells the story of the turtle brothers as they navigate the challenges of being teenagers and seek acceptance. The film features the voices of Micah Abbey, Shamon Brown Jr., Nicolas Cantu, Brady Noon, Ayo Edebiri, Maya Rudolph, John Cena, Seth Rogen, Rose Byrne, Natasia Demetriou, Giancarlo Esposito, Jackie Chan, Ice Cube, and Paul Rudd.
The movie was a huge hit, earning over $180 million and receiving positive reviews for its distinctive animation and fresh interpretation of the characters. A follow-up film, expected to introduce the character Shredder, is planned for release in 2027. Before that, a short film called Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Chrome Alone 2 – Lost in New Jersey will be released on December 19, 2025, shown alongside The SpongeBob Movie: Search for SquarePants.
