With Sauron openly revealing himself and regaining control of the Orcs, the third season of Rings of Power will focus on large-scale war. However, this war will be different from what we’ve seen in other Lord of the Rings stories. The Second Age of Middle-earth was marked by two major conflicts: the War of the Elves and Sauron, and the War of the Last Alliance. Season 3 of Rings of Power will depict the first of these wars, and it promises battles that will be far more extensive and intense than anything seen in The Two Towers or The Return of the King.

What always struck me about Tolkien was how real he made war feel, even within a fantastical world. I’m really hoping season 3 of The Rings of Power leans into that by focusing heavily on the strategy of conflict. These were dark days in Middle-earth, and the Fellowship in The Lord of the Rings aimed to prevent such times from happening again. It’s crucial for viewers to understand just how devastating a full-scale war with Sauron would be.

Prepare For The Rings Of Power To Get Much Darker In Season 3

The enduring appeal of The Lord of the Rings lies in its exploration of the struggle between good and evil, and its message of hope even in the darkest times. The upcoming war between Elves and Men promises to continue this tradition, but with a heavier emphasis on Sauron’s victories. The Elves are caught off guard by his growing power, and he comes close to conquering a large part of their lands. This is a side of the story we haven’t seen on screen before, and while it’s hard to predict exactly how Rings of Power will portray it, this season appears to be exceptionally grim and challenging.

As a big fan of Tolkien, I’m really excited about where Rings of Power is heading. Season 2 left us with Sauron firmly in control of the Nine Rings, and we all know what happens next – those who wear them will become the terrifying Nazgûl. Plus, that mysterious dark figure and his followers over in Rhûn? I have a feeling their influence will only grow as Sauron gains power and builds his army in the East. Honestly, I’m bracing myself for season 3 to be seriously intense, scary, and much darker overall. I think we’re in for a really gripping ride!
