‘The Punisher: One Last Kill’ First Look Revealed in New ‘Daredevil: Born Again’ Trailer

The first look at The Punisher: One Last Kill has been released. Marvel Studios previously announced that Jon Bernthal would reprise his role as Frank Castle / The Punisher in a standalone Marvel Special Presentation, and it was briefly shown after the credits of Daredevil: Born Again Season 1.

As a huge Marvel fan, I was so excited to see the new trailer for Daredevil: Born Again Season 2! But the real surprise came at the very end – our first glimpse of The Punisher: One Last Kill! Jon Bernthal is back as the Punisher, and he’s sporting a beard and a seriously updated tactical suit. The trailer confirmed that One Last Kill will hit Disney+ on May 12, 2026, just a week after the Born Again finale wraps up. Definitely watch the whole trailer, but make sure you stay until the very end for that first look at One Last Kill – it’s worth it!

Not much is known yet about The Punisher: One Last Kill, but it will focus on Frank Castle attempting to leave his life as The Punisher behind, only to be pulled back into another fight. It’s currently unknown how the events of this special connect to where we last saw Frank Castle in Season 1 of Daredevil: Born Again – escaping from Wilson Fisk’s special prison. While Jon Bernthal won’t be in Season 2 of Daredevil: Born Again, he will appear in Spider-Man: Brand New Day, which is scheduled to be released in theaters two months after the special.

The second season of Daredevil: Born Again implies that Frank Castle, also known as The Punisher, hasn’t been seen since the first season. The upcoming story, The Punisher: One Last Kill, will likely reveal what happened to him, why he stopped operating as The Punisher when he was still needed, and explain his disappearance. This story is also expected to connect with the Spider-Man: Brand New Day storyline, where Jon Bernthal is set to reprise his role as The Punisher and may have a connection to a character played by Sadie Sink.

Jon Bernthal’s portrayal of Frank Castle as a bearded vigilante is reminiscent of the Punisher comic book series written by Greg Rucka between 2011 and 2012. That series also featured Sergeant Rachel Cole-Alves, a red-haired character who became the Punisher’s apprentice. There were rumors Sadie Sink might play this character in the upcoming Spider-Man: Brand New Day, but most now believe she’ll be playing Jean Grey in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. The release of Daredevil: Born Again, The Punisher: One Last Kill, and Spider-Man: Brand New Day back-to-back will create a large-scale, gritty story that ultimately leads into the multiversal Avengers: Doomsday event.
