The next season of Stranger Things arrives in just two weeks! To fully enjoy it, viewers will need to be familiar with 17 key episodes from the earlier seasons. Stranger Things is one of Netflix’s biggest hits, but not everyone has had a chance to watch it yet.
If you’re excited about the upcoming Stranger Things spinoffs, you’ll need to watch at least the first two seasons of the original show. And you’ll want to do it soon, as the next chapter is coming to Netflix in just a few weeks, starting a new phase for the series.
The fifth and final season of Stranger Things sparked debate among fans, particularly because relatively few major characters died. Another hot topic was what happened to Eleven – did the powerful character played by Millie Bobby Brown actually die, or did she find a way to survive in hiding? Whatever you believed, Netflix’s upcoming spin-off series seems like a natural continuation of the story.
Netflix’s New Stranger Things Series Arrives In Two Weeks
A new animated series called Stranger Things: Tales from ’85 will arrive on Netflix on April 23rd. It’s a spin-off featuring the beloved characters from Stranger Things, but with a key difference: unlike the original show, it’s animated instead of live-action.
Another difference with the new series, Stranger Things: Tales from ’85, is that the original voice actors from the live-action show won’t be returning. For instance, Jeremy Jordan will be voicing Steve, a role previously played by Joe Keery. Also, the animated series isn’t a continuation of the story after season 5 of Stranger Things.
New Viewers Have To Catch Up On 17 Episodes Before Stranger Things: Tales From ’85
Rather than continuing the main storyline of Stranger Things, the new series, Stranger Things: Tales from ’85, will share standalone stories that take place between seasons 2 and 3. Think of it as uncovering previously untold adventures of the characters we’ve grown to love over the past ten years.
If you plan on watching the new animated Stranger Things series, seasons 1 and 2 of the original show are a must-watch. You can watch the spinoff without seeing the first two seasons, but you’ll miss out on important backstory and won’t feel as connected to the characters from the start.
Season 1 of Stranger Things received a 97% rating on Rotten Tomatoes, making it the highest-rated season by critics – slightly ahead of Season 2’s 94%. Watching these two well-regarded seasons would give new viewers a strong foundation for enjoying Stranger Things: Tales from ’85 when it begins.
