The Devil Wears Prada 2 is turning the box office into a runway.
I’m so excited about the new movie! It’s a sequel to The Devil Wears Prada, which was a huge hit back in 2006 and based on the Lauren Weisberger book. It’s amazing to see them revisit the story almost twenty years later! The best part is that the original director, David Frankel, and writer, Aline Brosh McKenna, are back, and so are all the actors I loved from the first film – Anne Hathaway as Andy, Emily Blunt as Emily, Stanley Tucci as Nigel, and, of course, Meryl Streep as Miranda. The original movie made over $326 million on a $40 million budget, so expectations are high!
According to Deadline, The Devil Wears Prada 2 is expected to open at number one in the U.S. this weekend, earning between $75 and $80 million. This is a significant increase from the original film’s $27.5 million opening weekend. While factoring in inflation reduces the impact, the sequel is still predicted to earn nearly double the inflation-adjusted debut of the first Devil Wears Prada, which was $44.8 million.
