The Batman 2 Cast May Include Another Huge MCU Star

Another huge MCU star is in talks to join the cast of The Batman 2.

The Batman 2, the follow-up to the 2022 hit film The Batman, is scheduled to be released in US theaters in 2027. Matt Reeves is returning as director, and Robert Pattinson will once again play Batman/Bruce Wayne. Joining the cast is Scarlett Johansson, famous for her role as Black Widow, though her specific character hasn’t been revealed yet.

Who is in talks to join the cast of The Batman 2?

According to Deadline, Sebastian Stan is currently in discussions to appear in the next Batman movie.

Sebastian Stan is famous for his role as Bucky Barnes, also known as the Winter Soldier, in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. He recently appeared in Thunderbolts* and will be back as Bucky in Avengers: Doomsday, coming out later this year. Stan has also received critical acclaim for his acting, including an Academy Award nomination for playing Donald Trump in the 2024 film The Apprentice, and an Emmy Award for his lead role in the 2022 series Pam & Tommy.

In addition to his work in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, Stan has appeared in a variety of films, including Black Swan (2010), The Martian (2015), Logan Lucky and I, Tonya (both 2017), We Have Always Lived in the Castle (2018), The Devil All the Time (2020), Dumb Money (2023), and A Different Man (2024), as well as numerous other projects.

It’s currently unknown what role Stan will have in The Batman 2. Details about the movie’s plot are still being kept secret.

Production on the next Batman movie is scheduled to start this spring. Written by Matt Reeves and Mattson Tomlin, it’s currently set to hit theaters on October 1, 2027. You can currently watch the first Batman film on HBO Max.
