Do you prefer a night out on the town, or a cozy night in? I definitely prefer the latter – nothing beats ordering takeout and relaxing with a good show. And it seems like most people agree, if streaming numbers are any indication.
As a TV reviewer, I’m telling you, we’re living in the golden age of streaming! It feels like every service is battling for our eyeballs, and honestly, I rarely mind losing the fight. Whether I’m revisiting a favorite show for pure comfort or getting completely hooked by the latest must-see series that everyone’s talking about, TV has become a huge part of my daily life. And it’s not just me – think about it: Netflix, HBO Max, Apple TV+, Disney+, Prime Video, Hulu, Peacock, Paramount+, Crunchyroll… the list goes on and on! Millions of us are spending billions of hours each quarter glued to our screens, and I’m definitely contributing to that number.
Here’s a look at the shows people are actually watching, across all platforms, based on data from The Hollywood Reporter. The numbers are a few weeks behind, but they give a good overview of how different streaming services compare. Let’s dive in!
‘Age of Attraction’ (Netflix)

Netflix’s new dating show, Age of Attraction, follows a similar format to Love Is Blind. Forty singles try to find love without knowing each other’s ages—the age range of the contestants is almost 30 years! Hosted by Nick Viall and his wife, Natalie Joy, the show was filmed in Vancouver and explores whether age truly matters in relationships when you take it out of the equation.
The show recognizes that relationships with significant age differences are inherently fascinating and often viewed with skepticism. Viewers are left wondering if the connection will lead to something serious or end in disappointment. While it doesn’t aim to offer deep insights into love, it does highlight how we unconsciously use age as a social marker. The result is a compelling and addictive reality TV experience, full of drama.
‘The Dinosaurs’ (Netflix)

Narrated by Morgan Freeman and produced by Steven Spielberg’s Amblin Documentaries – the same team behind Our Planet – the four-part Netflix miniseries The Dinosaurs is a truly impressive production. It takes viewers on a 165-million-year journey through dinosaur history, starting with the earliest ancestors in the Triassic period and ending with the asteroid that caused their extinction. Each episode focuses on a different geological era, showcasing the dinosaurs that lived then and the world around them. It follows a similar approach to David Attenborough’s nature documentaries, but all the creatures are brought to life using computer-generated imagery.
Spielberg’s Jurassic Park essentially defined how we see dinosaurs on screen, so it’s fitting that he’s now producing a documentary that takes those visuals even further. Morgan Freeman’s narration provides the documentary’s emotional core, lending weight and seriousness to every scene, even those showing extinction events—preventing it from feeling like a simple amusement park attraction. Ultimately, The Dinosaurs is a visually stunning, well-timed, and humbling experience – in the best possible way.
‘Paradise’ (Hulu)
As a real cinema fan, I’ve been hooked by Paradise from the start. The first few episodes are brilliantly subtle, slowly drawing you in. It initially feels like a classic murder mystery – a really intriguing one, set in this incredibly clean, self-contained underground world where the elite have gone to escape some kind of global disaster. It centers around Xavier Collins, played by Sterling K. Brown, a Secret Service agent who finds the President, James Marsden, dead and immediately knows something isn’t right with the explanation he’s given. What starts as a ‘who done it’ gradually unfolds into a much bigger, more complex post-apocalyptic thriller, and the way the story is told isn’t straightforward – it jumps around in time, which keeps you guessing!
From the creator of This Is Us, the new series reunites Dan Fogelman with star Mandy Moore, offering a deeply emotional viewing experience. Julianne Nicholson delivers a standout performance as Sinatra, the calm force behind the scenes at Paradise, and has quickly become a fan favorite. The first episode attracted seven million viewers worldwide in its first week. The second season, arriving in 2026, will introduce exciting new elements like quantum AI and stories exploring parallel universes. Hulu has already renewed the show for a third season, and Fogelman intends to conclude the series after that, sticking to his original three-season vision.
‘The Night Agent’ (Netflix)

Netflix’s thriller series, The Night Agent, recently concluded its third season with a dramatic finale. What began as a suspenseful story about a low-level FBI agent, Peter Sutherland (Gabriel Basso), answering an emergency phone line that rarely receives calls, evolved into a high-stakes adventure. Season three took Peter across the globe to cities like Istanbul and Mexico City, demonstrating that a compelling lead character facing difficult choices and constant action can sustain a successful show.
Inspired by Matthew Quirk’s book and developed by Shawn Ryan (creator of The Shield and Timeless), The Night Agent constantly juggles the demands of Peter’s job with his need to survive. The third season forces Peter to make difficult, morally questionable choices, something the earlier seasons avoided. Ryan himself admits Peter is imperfect and makes mistakes, but actor Gabriel Basso is so compelling that you’ll still find yourself hoping for the best for him, even when you see those errors coming. The Night Agent might not be an awards show favorite, but it’s definitely a show you can easily lose a few hours to.
‘The Secret Lives of Mormon Wives’ (Hulu)

While it’s not high art, reality TV often manages to surprise and amuse us. The Secret Lives of Mormon Wives started with a particularly dramatic situation: influencer Taylor Frankie Paul’s viral TikTok confession that she and her husband were experimenting with “soft swinging” within their online community of mothers. When the show launched on Hulu, it quickly became the platform’s most popular unscripted premiere of the year.
Season 2 brought back the original cast – including Taylor, Whitney Leavitt, Jen Affleck, Demi Engemann, and Mayci Neeley – and the show became a huge streaming hit, reaching an estimated billion viewing minutes. That’s a massive 1,569% jump from the first season! The show also sparked a lot of discussion and even controversy, with the LDS Church publicly addressing it and a petition calling for its cancellation. Several scholars have even analyzed its impact. Ultimately, though, it’s become one of Netflix’s most popular guilty pleasures.
‘Bridgerton’ (Netflix)
Bridgerton, Netflix’s popular historical romance, is known for its drama, passionate love stories, and beautiful settings. The show recently returned for a fourth season, released in two parts throughout January and February 2026, propelling it into the top 10. This season focuses on Benedict Bridgerton, the second Bridgerton brother—a talented artist and confirmed bachelor—played by Luke Thompson. His romantic interest is Sophie Baek, portrayed by Yerin Ha.
Think of Bridgerton as a classic fairytale, but reimagined with the signature style of Shonda Rhimes. It’s full of dramatic tension between social classes, characters who aren’t who they seem, lavish parties, and those unforgettable, lingering glances. What makes Bridgerton unique is its ability to deliver pure, escapist fantasy. From the stunning outfits to the modern music played in a historical setting, and a diverse take on Regency London, it’s all built around a genuinely heartwarming love story. Given Shonda Rhimes’ plans for eight seasons and potential spin-offs, it’s clear Netflix intends to continue Bridgerton‘s success for a long time.
‘Scarpetta’ (Prime Video)

Fans waited years to see Patricia Cornwell’s Kay Scarpetta on screen. While Angelina Jolie was once set to play the role in a movie that never happened, Prime Video finally brought the character to life in 2026 with an eight-episode series. Nicole Kidman stars as Kay Scarpetta, the chief medical examiner of Virginia, who returns to her home state and immediately faces a complex case. The show cleverly weaves between the present-day investigation and flashbacks to the 1990s, revealing a past threat. Jamie Lee Curtis delivers a standout performance as Kay’s sister, Dorothy, and their on-screen chemistry is exceptional.
The show Scarpetta has a 58% rating on Rotten Tomatoes. Critics generally agree it’s a bit disorganized, but enjoyable due to its strong cast. That’s a pretty accurate assessment – the family drama sometimes overshadows the more interesting mystery elements. While Nicole Kidman is fantastic, some feel she’s not quite right for the role of someone who struggled to succeed in a traditionally male profession. However, the scenes between Kidman and Curtis are undeniably entertaining.
‘The Pitt’ (HBO Max)

Coming in at number three is the newest internet favorite, The Pitt. Is anyone shocked? The first season of this show takes place over just one day at a Pittsburgh hospital, and by the tenth episode, you’ll feel completely exhausted, like you’ve worked a double shift yourself. Noah Wyle stars as Dr. Michael “Robby” Robinavitch, the head doctor trying to manage a busy, understaffed, and overwhelmed emergency room.
The supporting cast in The Pitt is excellent, particularly Katherine LaNasa as the no-nonsense charge nurse Dana Evans, Fiona Dourif as a resident grappling with her past, and Patrick Ball as the complex Dr. Langdon. The first season was a critical success, winning five Emmys – including awards for Outstanding Drama Series and lead actors Wyle, LaNasa, and guest star Shawn Hatosy – and also took home Best Television Series Drama at the Golden Globes. While Season 1 focused on the fallout from a mass shooting, Season 2 takes place during a busy Fourth of July shift. The Pitt is a gripping and realistic portrayal of hospital life, and it’s currently the best show of its kind on television.
‘Virgin River’ (Netflix)
If you’re looking for a heartwarming and comforting show, Virgin River remains a top choice for romance fans on Netflix. It consistently ranks among the most-watched shows across all streaming services, proving that many viewers enjoy watching the sweet connection between Alexandra Breckenridge and Martin Henderson. Originally based on Robyn Carr’s novels and debuting in 2019, the series has become Netflix’s longest-running, even surpassing Orange Is the New Black.
The seventh season of Virgin River arrived in March 2026, beginning with Mel and Jack’s wedding. However, the celebration quickly turned to concern as Charmaine vanished, and a new danger emerged involving Calvin and his sons. The show consistently delivers what its viewers expect – familiar feelings and gentle developments, much like revisiting a beloved book. With season 8 already in production, it’s clear Virgin River will remain popular for a long time.
‘One Piece’ (Netflix)

Whenever a beloved manga or light novel gets adapted into anime, fans often worry about how it will be handled. But when Netflix’s live-action version of One Piece premiered in 2023, it exceeded expectations and received widespread praise. The second season, called Into the Grand Line, arrived in March 2026, continuing the Straw Hat crew’s journey through Loguetown and Whisky Peak, and beginning the Drum Island story arc. Importantly, the popular character Tony Tony Chopper finally appeared in live-action.
The show skillfully blends exciting fantasy adventures with well-developed characters. Adapting the story up to the Drum Island arc, instead of quickly moving through the entire Alabasta Saga, allowed the narrative to unfold naturally, and viewers really connected with new characters like Vivi and Dr. Hiriluk. Critics generally liked it too – 86% of reviews on Rotten Tomatoes were positive, with many calling it a heartwarming and enjoyable adaptation. Plus, a third season of the show is currently being made!
