DC Studios is moving forward with a sequel to its 2025 film, Superman, titled Man of Tomorrow. James Gunn, co-CEO of DC Studios and director of the first film, will again write and direct. This sequel follows the animated series Creature Commandos and will feature a surprising team-up: Superman (Clark Kent) and Lex Luthor will have to work together to defeat the incredibly powerful villain, Brainiac.
The new Superman movie has assembled a stellar cast, starting with David Corenswet as Superman, Nicholas Hoult as Lex Luthor, and Rachel Brosnahan as Lois Lane. They’re joined by other well-known actors from the DC universe, including Lars Eidinger (Brainiac, in his first DCU role), Isabela Merced (Hawkgirl), Frank Grillo (Rick Flag Sr.), Skyler Gisondo (Jimmy Olsen), and Aaron Pierre (John Stewart), among others. Recent reports suggest another big name might be joining the film, adding to the growing list of heroes in the DC Universe.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, James Gunn has chosen Adria Arjona for an undisclosed role in his upcoming 2027 film, Man of Tomorrow. Arjona was selected over other actresses including Eva De Dominici, Sydney Chandler, and Grace Van Patten. While her character remains a secret, Arjona is well-known for her role as Bix Calleen in all episodes of the Emmy-winning Disney+ series Andor. She’s also appeared in the 2022 film Morbius and alongside Glen Powell in the 2023 movie Hit Man.

For a long time, fans have wanted Eiza González to play Wonder Woman in the new DC Universe, making her potentially the fourth actress to take on the role after Gal Gadot, Lynda Carter, and Cathy Lee Crosby. Although she hasn’t publicly campaigned for the part, González publicly thanked James Gunn for giving her a role in her first studio film, 2016’s The Belko Experiment, and they still appear to have a good working relationship. Since Gal Gadot finished her time as Wonder Woman, González has become a top pick among fans, largely because of her impressive performances in shows like Andor and the movie Hit Man.
There’s also been talk of her potentially playing Maxima, a complex queen from the planet Almerac who also happens to be an alien conqueror. Maxima is known for her intense obsession with Superman, seeing him as the only one fit to rule beside her. However, she also evolves into a superhero herself and eventually joins forces with the Justice League.
Though Gunn is keeping details under wraps about Arjona’s role, her involvement will undoubtedly improve the quality of “Man of Tomorrow,” which aims to be DC’s next big success. The sequel is already planning to break new ground for Superman films, and David Corenswet is poised to deliver a thrilling follow-up to the widely praised first movie, expanding the franchise’s Kryptonian storyline.
Man of Tomorrow is set to debut in theaters on July 9, 2027.
