‘Stranger Things’ Star Jamie Campbell Bower Explains Vecna’s Final Plans

The fifth and final season of the popular Netflix series Stranger Things has been packed with exciting twists and increasing tension. The last episodes, set to release on December 31st, will reveal more about the show’s history and mysteries. Beyond finally explaining the truth about the Upside Down, the season will also shed light on why Will disappeared in the first season.

The mystery of Will’s disappearance was actually a key part of Vecna’s grand scheme, revealed in the second volume of the series. Vecna aims to connect the terrifying dimension of The Abyss with our world, specifically focusing on the town of Hawkins. Jamie Campbell Bower, the actor who plays Vecna, recently explained his character’s motives in an interview with Screen Rant. According to Bower, Vecna sees himself as a god, wanting to completely destroy the world as we know it and then rebuild it in his image. He described Vecna’s goal as “total annihilation and recreation.”

Honestly, as a big fan, I always interpreted his ultimate goal as a complete reset – wiping the slate clean and rebuilding the world exactly as he envisions it. He really hinted at this back in season four, episode seven, when he was talking to Eleven. I remember him saying something like, ‘We could remake the world, reshape it however we see fit.’ It’s like, this is finally his moment to tear everything down and start over, building it in his image.

Vecna is determined to bring different worlds together, and he’ll harm anyone who gets in his way. Thanks to Jamie Campbell Bower’s understanding of the character, we see just how much The Abyss has twisted Vecna, who was once Henry Creel, before his time in Hawkins Lab and Eleven sent him to another dimension.

What Does the Finale of ‘Stranger Things’ Have Planned?

The final episode of Stranger Things Volume 2, “The Bridge,” finally answered many questions fans had and hinted at what’s coming in the finale. We learned the truth about Will’s disappearance and discovered the Upside Down is actually a kind of wormhole. The group explained Vecna’s plans: as the Upside Down starts to crumble, it will merge with our damaged world, and Vecna intends to build a new world of his own. This demonstrates his immense power and is also a way for him to get revenge for past wrongs.

Okay, so things are seriously heating up! We know the crew from Hawkins is going to have to brave the Upside Down again, and they’re in a race against time to get to this place called the Abyss and rescue Holly before Vecna can completely tear open the connection between our world and the Upside Down. Eleven’s teaming up with Kali, and honestly, it’s setting up what looks like an absolutely massive psychic showdown with Vecna. But here’s the thing that worries me – Hopper doesn’t trust Kali, and I’m starting to think she might be an even bigger threat to Eleven than Vecna himself!
