While Catch Me If You Can might not be Steven Spielberg’s most famous movie, it’s still a highly regarded film. It’s based on the true story of Frank Abagnale Jr., as told in his 1980 autobiography of the same name.

This story follows an incredibly talented young man who manages to work as a doctor, a lawyer, and even a co-pilot before he turns eighteen. He’s a master of disguise and trickery, but he first becomes well-known for his amazing ability to forge documents.

When he was just 17 years old, Frank Abagnale, Jr. became notorious for his bank scams, successfully conning people out of millions of dollars. FBI agent Carl Hanratty dedicated himself to catching Frank and bringing him to justice, but Frank consistently managed to stay ahead of the law.

Leonardo DiCaprio starred in the film, supported by a strong cast including Tom Hanks as FBI Agent Carl Hanratty, alongside Christopher Walken, Martin Sheen, Nathalie Baye, and James Brolin.

Catch Me If You Can is a fast-moving and lively film that, while different from Steven Spielberg’s typically darker work and reliance on special effects, delivers a thrilling, funny, and genuinely entertaining crime story with plenty of surprising twists.

The movie was a hit with both critics and audiences. It boasts a 96% ‘Certified Fresh’ rating on Rotten Tomatoes, based on reviews, and an 89% audience score. It also earned an 8.1/10 rating on IMDb from over 1.2 million viewers. In addition to its popularity, the crime thriller received two Academy Award nominations: Christopher Walken for Best Supporting Actor and John Williams for Best Original Score.
