Disney’s newest Star Wars series is continuing its impressive run. Star Wars: Maul – Shadow Lord launched to great reviews and is now attracting a large audience, suggesting it could become a major, long-term franchise.
The animated series Maul: Shadow Lord has achieved a new high on Rotten Tomatoes, this time with viewers. As of today, it boasts a 94% audience score, making it the highest-rated Star Wars show of the Disney+ era according to fans. Critics initially gave it a perfect 100% score, giving it the best debut of any Star Wars project ever reviewed. This puts the series ahead of popular shows like Andor (89%) and The Mandalorian (78%), and only slightly behind classic films like The Empire Strikes Back (97%) and A New Hope (96%) in terms of overall fan ratings within the Star Wars franchise.
The series Maul: Shadow Lord continues the story of Maul, with Sam Witwer reprising his voice role, after the events of The Clone Wars and Revenge of the Sith. It follows his efforts to restore his criminal organization on the planet Janix. Created by Dave Filoni, the show releases two episodes each week, leading up to a finale on May 4th, and has already been picked up for another season.
The positive reaction is understandable considering the early reviews.
