[Spoiler]’s Death Confirmed in A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms Finale Trailer

Fans of A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms are worried about what’s coming next. A sneak peek at Episode 6 suggests things are about to get difficult for Ser Duncan the Tall and Egg. Still reeling from a recent, unexpected death, the characters will face challenges that could strain their relationships and test where their loyalties lie.

Could Dunk and Egg be separated after Baelor’s death?

The fifth episode ended with a lot of tension as Dunk made it through the dangerous Trial of Seven. Prince Aerion Targaryen finally backed down and dropped his charges, giving Dunk a well-deserved win.

Despite being seriously wounded, the hedge knight survived the battle. Prince Baelor Targaryen commended Dunk’s courage, stating he needed loyal and capable men like him. Tragically, Baelor himself was mortally wounded by his brother, Maekar I Targaryen, and died shortly after his helmet was removed.

I was really struck by the trailer for Episode 6. It really digs into the fallout from that devastating loss. We see Dunk completely heartbroken and struggling to understand why Baelor would sacrifice himself for him. It’s heartbreaking. Lyonel Baratheon tries to explain it, suggesting Baelor saw those he fought as enemies who wouldn’t have hesitated to kill him, implying he felt he had nothing to lose. But honestly, the most gut-wrenching part was Valarr Targaryen’s reflection on what Baelor could have been – she points out he had everything it takes to be a truly great king, and you can feel her wondering why fate chose to save Dunk instead of him. It’s just… so powerful.

The major turning point comes when Maekar calls for Dunk and reveals that his son, Prince Aegon Targaryen, nicknamed Egg, really wants Dunk to be his knight and won’t accept anyone else. Maekar asks Dunk to take Egg on as a squire again, but Dunk refuses, stating he’s finished with serving royalty. A quick, shadowy scene from the trailer hints at Egg questioning if Dunk is the man he thought he was.

While a breakup isn’t certain and there’s still a chance they might get back together, the latest preview shows a definite tension between them. Even if Dunk seems unsure, it’s clear Egg still deeply respects the hedge knight, which hints at a very emotional turning point in the upcoming episodes.
