Sony Pictures has shared new images from Spider-Man: Beyond the Spider-Verse, the final chapter in the Spider-Verse trilogy. The movie is a continuation of Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse, which ended with a preview of the third film back in 2021. Originally planned for release in April 2024, Spider-Man: Beyond the Spider-Verse will now arrive in theaters on June 18, 2027. A first look was recently presented at CinemaCon 2026.
At the Sony Pictures presentation, it was announced that Spider-Man: Beyond the Spider-Verse will be filmed in an expanded 1.43:1 aspect ratio, a format often used for immersive experiences like IMAX 70mm. Producers and writers Phil Lord and Chris Miller introduced the film as the concluding chapter in Miles Morales’ story. A preview shown at CinemaCon, as reported by Variety, continued directly after the ending of Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse, showing Miles Morales (Shameik Moore) attempting to persuade his alternate self, Miles G. Morales (Jharrel Jerome), to let him return home.
Sony Pictures has revealed four new images from the upcoming film. One shows a heartwarming moment between Miles Morales and his father, Jefferson Davis. Another depicts a battle between Miles and Miguel O’Hara’s Spider-Man 2099, with Miguel sporting a black-and-white costume reminiscent of Venom, and Miles in a futuristic blue. A third image focuses on Spider-Punk. The final photo showcases a younger Jefferson Davis with his brother, Aaron. Check out the pictures below!
The CinemaCon footage from Spider-Man: Beyond the Spider-Verse revealed a team assembling to rescue Miles, including Spider-Gwen (Hailee Steinfeld), Peter B. Parker (Jake Johnson), Spider-Punk, Spider-Man Noir (Nicolas Cage), and Spider-Ham (John Mullaney). They’re joined by two unidentified figures in a truck, who may be Jefferson and Aaron – characters previously seen in promotional photos – with Gwen seemingly bringing in alternate versions of them to aid in the rescue.
Bob Persichetti and Justin K. Thompson directed Spider-Man: Beyond the Spider-Verse. Both directors have worked on previous Spider-Man films – Persichetti co-directed Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse, and Thompson co-directed Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse. The screenplay was co-written by Phil Lord and Christopher Miller, along with Dave Callaham, who also contributed to Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse and Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings. Spider-Man: Beyond the Spider-Verse, slated for release in 2027, is highly anticipated and promises to be a grand finale to the story that started with Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse in 2018.
