As a huge fan of crime dramas, I was completely hooked on Bones when it originally aired from 2005 to 2017. It’s honestly one of the best procedural shows ever made! I loved following the dynamic between FBI agent Seeley Booth, played by David Boreanaz, and the brilliant forensic anthropologist Temperance Brennan – everyone just called her ‘Bones,’ of course. Now, with the new thriller Scarpetta coming to Prime Video, I’m hoping it’ll fill that *Bonesshaped hole in my heart. It feels like the perfect successor!
For nearly ten years, fans have happily re-watched the show Bones. Now, Prime Video might be offering something similar with Scarpetta, a new crime drama set to premiere on March 11, 2026. Currently, there are 25 books in the Temperance Brennan series, and eight of those were published before the TV show even began.
As a huge Kay Scarpetta fan, I’m so excited about the upcoming TV show! Patricia Cornwell has written 29 novels in the series, which is amazing. Because there’s so much story there – all the twists, characters, and mysteries – the show can really pick and choose the best plots. And with so many books to draw from, it feels like the adaptation has the potential to go on for a really long time, which is exactly what I want!

Prime Video Is Investing Early In Scarpetta
Good news for fans of Prime Video’s Scarpetta: the show has been renewed for a second season! These days, it’s common for crime dramas to get canceled quickly, so viewers can be relieved knowing that the story, characters, and world of Scarpetta will continue to develop. This confirmation means their time invested in the show won’t be wasted.
It remains to be seen if the new crime drama, Scarpetta, will last as long as Bones, but it definitely deserves the opportunity to become the next popular forensic procedural. While nothing can completely fill the void left by Bones, Scarpetta offers a unique appeal and demonstrates that audiences are still eager for shows centered around forensic science.
