At the 2025 Fan Expo Chicago on August 16, Orlando Bloom stated that, in his view, for Pirates of the Caribbean 6 to be successful, it must reunite the main cast members of the series, including Johnny Depp.

The actor, aged 48, expressed in an interview with Entertainment Weekly that all necessary details are contained within the script, and he believes there’s definitely a method for crafting something new. He further added his preference for everyone involved to return, stating that reuniting the team could potentially lead to success if everyone is open to reprising their roles.

During a recent interview, producer Jerry Bruckheimer voiced hopefulness about Johnny Depp reprising his role as Captain Jack Sparrow, stating, “Should he find the script appealing, I believe he would be open to it.” However, it’s still uncertain if Depp has committed to returning to the Pirates of the Caribbean film franchise, given his departure due to personal legal matters.

Discussions about Johnny Depp’s potential return to the franchise persist, but Orlando Bloom appears eager to resume his character of Will Turner, though under specific circumstances. As he put it, “There’s still debate on how to approach it again, but if the script was excellent,” he’d gladly participate in the movie.
