A big change fans have been anticipating in Spider-Man: Brand New Day is Peter Parker becoming independent from Tony Stark. It’s been widely discussed that Tom Holland’s Spider-Man in the Marvel Cinematic Universe has been too dependent on Stark and his inventions.
Even after Parker died, he still needed Stark’s tech expert to create his Spider-Man suits. But when Doctor Strange cast a spell making everyone forget Spider-Man, that support ended. Parker was on his own. However, a sharp-eyed viewer noticed something interesting in the trailer for the Brand New Day IMAX version: Tom Holland’s Spider-Man seemed to be holding onto more of his suit’s advanced features than previously thought.
A fan account, @MCUSpideyShots, shared a clip from the IMAX trailer for Spider-Man: Brand New Day that revealed slightly more of the screen’s edges. The fan observed that Spider-Man’s mask lenses appear to have a functioning heads-up display when viewed from inside the suit.

The video shows information briefly appearing inside Spider-Man’s mask lenses, much like in the recent Spider-Man movies directed by Jon Watts. However, what Peter Parker is viewing in the Brand New Day footage looks simpler and less detailed, and everything has an orange tint.
A few fans were surprised to see Tom Holland’s Spider-Man still relying on tech built into his suit. However, just like in the comics, Peter Parker is incredibly intelligent in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. He actually invented his famous web-shooters, the web fluid itself, and even the initial version of his adaptable lenses – all while making his first suit in Spider-Man: Homecoming.
Even though Doctor Strange made everyone forget him, Peter still had his old Spider-Man suits. According to Chris McKenna, a writer on No Way Home, Peter secretly kept some of his high-tech suits hidden away. He may have even updated the lenses originally made by Stark and put them into newer suits over time.
The main question now is what other improvements Spider-Man added to his suit during the Brand New Day storyline.
Other Spider-Man Suit Upgrades That Could Return
Spider-Tracer
The Spider-Tracer is arguably Spider-Man’s most famous invention from the comics, first appearing in Amazing Spider-Man #11 back in 1964. He throws or shoots these devices at escaping enemies to follow them back to their hideouts.

I remember when Spider-Man first used one of these in the movies! It was in Spider-Man: Homecoming – he stuck it on the Shocker, Herman Schultz. It was cool to see how Stark had improved it from a basic tracker into this little spider-bot that could sneak onto someone and stay hidden. It was a really clever piece of tech!

If Peter Parker were to be reimagined in Brand New Day, it would likely be a simpler, more comic-accurate portrayal, focusing on his skill and hoping his opponents wouldn’t see him coming.
Web Wings
For years, the web wings on Spider-Man’s costume were just for show. They were part of his original design, but didn’t actually do anything. That changed during the Civil War storyline in Amazing Spider-Man #529, when Tony Stark created the Iron Spider suit, giving Peter Parker the ability to glide using the wings.

The movie Homecoming would have given Peter retractable wings, which he then used to fly and fight Mysterio in Far From Home and again in No Way Home. Adding these wings to his suit in Brand New Day would align with his traditional appearance and be simple enough for him to build on his own.
Spider-Signal
First appearing in comics before the Spider-Tracer in Amazing Spider-Man #3, the Spider-Signal is one of Peter Parker’s more playful inventions, designed to let criminals know he’s coming. While not the smartest idea, it fit Spider-Man’s confident and somewhat boastful personality, especially when he was first starting out as a superhero.

The Spider-Signal, often seen in animated shows like the short-lived The Spectacular Spider-Man, finally appeared in a live-action movie during the end credits of Captain America: Civil War. In Homecoming, Peter Parker only used it for a short time as a way to track the Vulture and his team, almost like a fancy display screen.

This element could be more impactful in Brand New Day, symbolizing Spider-Man completely taking over Peter Parker’s life. He could use it to frighten his growing number of enemies, essentially making it his signature threat.
