Seriously, Final Fantasy 7 was such a huge deal for RPGs, and I think the way the game started, with that whole section in Midgar, really changed how stories were told in video games forever.

Fans of Final Fantasy 7 will soon experience Midgar in a fresh way! Square Enix is releasing Ascend the Shinra Tower – Final Fantasy 7 Board Game in 2027, a collaborative project with Arclight. The game lets players take on the role of Avalanche as they battle against the powerful Shinra Electric Power Company.

The game is set to launch in January 2027.
