Netflix’s Ransom Canyon is way ahead of its time.
Netflix hasn’t officially announced whether Ransom Canyon will be back for a third season, but the show’s creator, April Blair, has shared some ideas about where the story could go. In an interview with Deadline, Blair said that if the Western does return, the new season would pick up shortly after the events of the season 2 finale – unlike the six-month time jump between seasons one and two. This would let viewers see what happens right away following the dramatic ending.
Season 2 of Ransom Canyon began on July 23, 2026, continuing the story several months after the first season ended. It brought Quinn O’Grady (Minka Kelly) and Staten Kirkland (Josh Duhamel) back together following Quinn’s time in New York. The time apart allowed the show to explore significant developments in their lives before their reunion.
Blair, the creator of Ransom Canyon, said season 3 will handle things differently. Because the new season is shorter, viewers will actually see what happens after the big events at the end of last season – instead of just being told about it later on. The goal is to let the audience experience the immediate aftermath directly.
She also mentioned that one character is likely to have a bigger part in future seasons of Ransom Canyon if Netflix renews the show. Casey W. Johnson, who plays Kit Russell, became a main cast member starting with season two, and will probably be even more central to the story as the show and its characters evolve.
As of today, Netflix hasn’t officially renewed Ransom Canyon for a third season. But comments from creator Blair suggest they are already planning ahead, which is encouraging. Still, it’s best not to get too excited until Netflix confirms another season of the Western series.

It’s definitely keeping me hooked!
You can watch both seasons of Ransom Canyon now on Netflix. As of right now, it’s unknown if there will be a Season 3.
