I was really excited when Netflix announced they were making a series out of Harlan Coben‘s Myron Bolitar books back in May! And they weren’t kidding around – after revealing who would play the main character earlier this month, they’ve been steadily adding more and more actors to the cast.
Netflix is developing a new series based on Harlan Coben’s Myron Bolitar novels – his longest-running book series to date. This could be Coben’s first ongoing show for the platform, following several successful limited series he’s created. The series has now cast Melissa Benoist (known from Supergirl) and ten other actors to join the production, after finding its lead.
Myron Bolitar’s Cast Is Complete
Following the popularity of Run Away, Netflix is continuing to create series based on novels by Harlan Coben. The new show, Myron Bolitar, will star Chloe Fineman (from Saturday Night Live), Jabari Banks (Bel-Air), and Jamie McShane (Wednesday) alongside Woodell. Recently added cast members include KJ Apa (Riverdale), Diane Guerrero (The Lincoln Lawyer), and Ben McKenzie (Gotham).
More casting announcements followed quickly, including the addition of a new recurring guest star. She will portray Valerie Simpson, a retired tennis player attempting a return to the sport after a five-year hiatus caused by a shocking and unexplained incident during a match.
The cast also includes Isaiah Hill (known for Swagger and One Spoon of Chocolate), Amanda Warren (East New York, The Night Agent), Quincy Isaiah (Winning Time, and Broadway’s Chicago as well as The Faculty), Griffin Dunne (After Hours, This Is Us), Charlie Tahan (A Complete Unknown, Ozark), Jamie Hector (Bosch, The Wire), and Sandrine Holt (Your Friends & Neighbors, The Shrouds). Ra’Mya Latiah Aikens, who appeared in Romeo and Juliet at Shakespeare in the Park, has joined the series as a regular cast member.
What Happens in Myron Bolitar?
Netflix and Harlan Coben have worked together on many popular projects, recently renewing their deal in May. However, all of their previous collaborations were limited series. Coben felt strongly about his source material and insisted any adaptation truly capture the essence of his stories.
Myron Bolitar first appeared in Harlan Coben’s novel Deal Breaker in 1995. Since then, he’s been the main character in twelve of Coben’s books, solving cases involving everything from blackmail to murder.
This story centers around a talented athlete who was destined for NBA greatness, but a career-ending injury forces him to find a new path. He becomes a sports agent and uses his personality, intelligence, and a tough business partner to thrive in the competitive and often underhanded world of professional sports. He’ll go to great lengths to protect his clients, even if it means putting himself in danger.
David E. Kelley (known for shows like Margo’s Got Money Troubles, Presumed Innocent, and Big Little Lies) and Kyle Long (Suits, Unsolved: The Murders of Tupac and the Notorious B.I.G.) are teaming up to create the new series Myron Bolitar. They will all share responsibilities as showrunners, writers, and executive producers.
Netflix’s Myron Bolitar doesn’t have a release date yet.
